{"id":28073,"date":"2024-03-10T14:20:50","date_gmt":"2024-03-10T14:20:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=28073"},"modified":"2024-03-10T14:20:52","modified_gmt":"2024-03-10T14:20:52","slug":"michigan-department-of-transportation-receives-latest-generation-automated-weather-observing-systems-from-adb-safegate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/michigan\/michigan-department-of-transportation-receives-latest-generation-automated-weather-observing-systems-from-adb-safegate\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Michigan Department of Transportation Receives Latest Generation Automated Weather Observing Systems from ADB SAFEGATE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>ADB SAFEGATE, through its DBT Transportation Services LLC (DBT) subsidiary, was awarded a $3.7 million contract to replace the 42 Non-Federal Automated Weather Observing Systems (AWOS) by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/ADB-Safegate-MI-AWOS.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28074\" width=\"273\" height=\"364\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ADB-Safegate-MI-AWOS.jpg 320w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ADB-Safegate-MI-AWOS-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 273px) 100vw, 273px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>DBT developed the F1 Standalone AWOS (F1 STA) in compliance\nwith the FAA Advisory Circular 150\/5220-16, while taking into consideration\ncomments and recommendations from the US aviation industry, including the\nMichigan Aeronautics Commission and MDOT.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The F1 STA is the latest generation of FAA certified AWOS\nfrom DBT. The F1 STA utilizes future-forward technology, with configurations\ncovering every type from AWOS A through AWOS IV Z including the AWOS III P\/T\ntype currently being installed in Michigan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a quote from the MDOT Office of Aeronautics (Aero), the agency, supported by the Michigan Aeronautics Commission, said they were pleased the Michigan Legislature recognized the need for upgraded AWOS equipment across the state. &#8220;Used for a variety of weather reporting activities, not just aviation, AWOS provides the accurate weather data that we all depend on daily. MDOT Aero, in cooperation with DBT, will provide the highest quality products and services to our airport AWOS stations with this much anticipated system upgrade.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first four airports to receive the F1 STA AWOS were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Saginaw County H.W. Browne Airport (KHYX)<\/li><li>Wexford County Airport (KCAD)<\/li><li>Fitch H.
