These awards are presented to airports,\nprofessionals, consultants, and others. The airport demonstrated exemplary leadership\nand dedication in providing exceptional aviation services to the public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Air Carrier Airport of the Year Award<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Air-Carrier-Airport-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27955\" width=\"263\" height=\"141\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Air-Carrier-Airport-edit.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Air-Carrier-Airport-edit-300x161.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 263px) 100vw, 263px\" \/><figcaption><em>2024 Michigan Airport Conference, Alpena County Regional Airport, Awarded the Airport of the year, air carrier airport category.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Alpena County Regional Airport in Alpena was recognized\nfor sustained excellence and partnership toward aviation progress in Michigan.\nThe airport is commended for their rebuilding of a runway critical to the\nairport\u2019s operational efficiency and business continuity, which will meet the\nneeds well into the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aviation Professional of the Year Award <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gary Todd of the Clare Municipal Airport in Clare was\nrecognized for his outstanding contribution and sustained excellence serving as\nthe airport&#8217;s manager for the past decade. He showed exemplary leadership in\nmaintaining the airport in top condition. Todd also collaborates with others in\nthe aviation community to share his knowledge and provided flight training. His\ndedication and hard work contributed to aspirational standards for many\naviation professionals.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aviation Community Involvement Award <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Community-Involvement-Award-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27956\" width=\"182\" height=\"144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Community-Involvement-Award-edit.jpg 800w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Community-Involvement-Award-edit-300x239.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 182px) 100vw, 182px\" \/><figcaption><em>2024 Michigan Airport Conference, Casey Brown, Awarded the Aviation Community Involvement Award.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Casey Brown was selected for his outstanding contributions\nsupporting the Lowell City Airport in Lowell. Brown volunteered at the airport,\nensuring a safe, well-maintained facility, in addition to hosting special\naviation events, which are recognized and appreciated by the public.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Robert G. Pekham Consultant of the Year Award <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Consultant-of-the-year-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27957\" width=\"220\" height=\"123\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Consultant-of-the-year-edit.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Consultant-of-the-year-edit-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 220px) 100vw, 220px\" \/><figcaption><em>2024 Michigan Airport Conference, Arconcepts, Awarded the Robert G Peckham Consultant Of the Year Award.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Arconcepts, an architectural, design and planning firm based\nin Livonia, was recognized for exceptional work on the Hillsdale Municipal\nAirport Terminal Project in Hillsdale. The firm\u2019s team brought this project\nfrom sketch to reality in a very short timeline, ensuring all deadlines were\nmet along the way. The newly designed terminal brings many modern amenities to\nthe airport, creating a welcoming space for the public to enjoy. The building\u2019s\nforward-thinking concept will meet the needs of next generation aviation\nenthusiasts for years to come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aviation Student of the Year Award <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/aviation-student-award-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27958\" width=\"199\" height=\"173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/aviation-student-award-edit.jpg 700w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/aviation-student-award-edit-300x260.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/><figcaption><em>2024 Michigan Airport Conference, Willow MacLaughlin, Awarded the Aviation Student of the year award.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Willow MacLaughlin of Owosso was recognized for outstanding\ncontributions as a Michigan aviation student. Passionate about aviation, she\ndemonstrated it through volunteering with the Civil Air Patrol and restoring\nthe Owosso Community Airport\u2019s historic Beacon Memorial. In obtaining her\nprivate pilot license and studying to become a commercial airline pilot,\nMacLaughlin is a shining example of the high-caliber aviation professional the\nfuture aeronautics workforce can look forward to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Congratulations to this year&#8217;s awards winners and\nthank you for your contributions to improving Michigan aviation,&#8221; said\nMike Trout, MAC director and MDOT Office of Aeronautics administrator.\n&#8220;Their outstanding work has not gone unnoticed to the MAC, MDOT and the\naviation community.&#8221;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MAC and MDOT have recognized airports, individuals and\norganizations whose innovative contributions have led to significant\nimprovements to facilities, operations or public relations that support\naviation in Michigan.
