Department of Transportation&#8217;s Division of Aviation\nhas announced the winners of the 2024 North Carolina Aviation Art Contest,\nwhich is hosted to inspire and engage young people in aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NCDOT received entries from 1,646 students in this year&#8217;s\ncontest. After weeks of judging and voting, the winners were announced in the\nfollowing three age groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Junior (born 2014-2017):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1st &#8211; Jasmine Lee of Antioch Elementary School\nin Matthews<\/li><li>2nd &#8211; Aaron Chen of Metrolina Regional Scholars\nAcademy in Morrisville&nbsp; <\/li><li>3rd &#8211; Minseo Son of Pleasant Grove Elementary\nSchool in Cary<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Intermediate (born 2010-2013):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1st &#8211; Ellis Gibson of North Buncombe Elementary\nSchool in Weaverville&nbsp; <\/li><li>2nd &#8211; Carolynn Kim of Apex Friendship Elementary\nSchool in Apex<\/li><li>3rd &#8211; Emma Chen of Metrolina Regional Scholars\nAcademy in Charlotte<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Senior (born 2006-2009):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1st &#8211; Isabel Chang of Cary Academy in Cary<\/li><li>2nd -Yeji Na of Cary Christian School in Cary<\/li><li>3rd &#8211; Emma Shin of Green Hope High School in\nCary<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the top 12 winners in each age group will have their artwork displayed digitally at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. The winning art can also be viewed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ncdot\/albums\/72177720315007492\/with\/53547397593\">NCDOT Flickr site<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judging was based on creativity, adherence to this year&#8217;s\ntheme of \u201cAir Sports for a Peaceful World,&#8221; and technical quality. The\nwinners were selected after weeks of voting by local art teachers, aviation\nexperts and NCDOT Employees, including NCDOT Secretary Hopkins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The top three students in each age division will also have\ntheir artwork submitted in the National Aviation Art Contest in Washington,\nD.C. The national winners will advance to the international competition. Since\n2017, 13 of North Carolina&#8217;s young artists have placed in the top three in the\nnational competition and three have placed in the top three in the\ninternational competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entries this year came from 202 hometowns and 181 schools\nfrom 63 counties.
