Alabama Power also served as a partner to bring these chargers online\nfor public access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Beta-Aircraft-Commissioning-1-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27878\" width=\"291\" height=\"179\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Beta-Aircraft-Commissioning-1-edit.jpg 800w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Beta-Aircraft-Commissioning-1-edit-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 291px) 100vw, 291px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The BETA-designed charging stations are multimodal and\ninteroperable, capable of powering electric aircraft and ground vehicles alike.\nThe MGM installations include one Level 3 Fast-Charger located inside the fence\n(airside), primarily for use by electric aircraft, and one Level 2 Charger\nlocated outside the fence (carside), primarily for use by public EVs. With\nthese additions, Montgomery Regional is well-positioned to support the electric\ntransportation future, which is currently poised to grow the economy and\nassociated job opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Montgomery Regional Airport is thrilled to welcome the\ndawn of a cleaner and more sustainable era in aviation with the installation of\nour new electric aircraft charger \u2013 a first for the state of Alabama,\u201d said\nWade A. Davis, MGM Executive Director. \u201cWith the commissioning of our\nstate-of-the-art electric aircraft charger, we are not only energizing the\nspirit of innovation but also maintaining a commitment to be environmentally\nresponsible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To celebrate this milestone, MGM held a commissioning event\non Monday, February 5, with representatives from MGM, BETA, Alabama Power,\nALDOT, and state government in attendance to deliver remarks. BETA also flew\nits all-electric ALIA aircraft into MGM to receive the inaugural airside\ncharge. The aircraft \u2014 one of two configurations BETA is currently developing\nand certifying with the FAA \u2014 arrived in Alabama following a months-long\ndeployment with the U.S. Air Force at Duke Field in Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs we move closer to getting electric aircraft into\noperation, it is critical that we are building charging infrastructure where\nour customers need it,\u201d said Blain Newton, BETA\u2019s Chief Operations Officer.\n\u201cMontgomery marks the first charger in Alabama as we continue to deploy our\nchargers in key markets that will help accelerate connectivity among regional\nand rural communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new charge site in Alabama is part of a growing\nnational network of electric infrastructure that BETA is building out across\nthe U.S. To date, BETA has brought chargers online at 17 site locations from\nVermont to Arkansas and Florida, with more than 55 additional sites in\ndevelopment for public and private use by commercial, military, and medical\nentities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) has partnered with BETA Technologies, an electric aerospace company based in Burlington, Vermont, to install the first-ever electric aircraft charging station in the state of Alabama.
