Inouye International Airport (HNL) and the\nKahului Airport (OGG). The awards are part of $970 million in grants for fiscal\nyear 2024 from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that the\nBiden Administration announced today to improve airports across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe appreciate the support of the Biden Administration, the\nFAA, and our congressional delegation to dedicate Infrastructure Investment and\nJobs Act funds toward our ongoing efforts to modernize Hawai\u2018i\u2019s airports,\u201d\nsaid Hawai\u2018i Director of Transportation Ed Sniffen. \u201cThis investment in our\nairports will allow us to continue to improve operational efficiencies,\nprioritize safety, security and accessibility, and enhance the overall airport\nexperience for visitors and residents.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hawai\u2018i\u2019s share of the grants will be invested in the\nHonolulu and Kahului airports as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>$22 million to HNL: The funds will be used for concrete\nspalling repairs to the Terminal 2 roadway for the Wiki Wiki shuttle, expansion\nof passenger sidewalks, and improvements to lighting and electrical systems at\nthe Diamond Head Concourse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>$8.6 million to OGG: This award will go towards the\nconstruction of a new two-story security screening checkpoint facility at the\nsouth end of the ticket lobby (South TSA Checkpoint). The facility will include\nsix new TSA screening lanes. A pedestrian bridge over the existing service road\nwill connect the new checkpoint facility to Hold Room A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fiscal year 2023, FAA awarded HDOT $10 million for Phase\n1 of the HNL Terminal 2 roadway project, and $1.2 million to replace the\nairport fire alarm system at the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at\nKe\u00c4\u0081hole.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is awarding $30.6 million to the Hawai\u2018i Department of Transportation (HDOT) for improvements at two Hawai\u2018i airports \u2013 the Daniel K.
