This new scholarship strengthens Air\nCanada&#8217;s commitment to supporting access for under-represented students in this\nhighly desirable career path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One student from each school will receive a $1,500\nscholarship to assist with the cost of their education to become AMEs. Students\nwho are awarded a scholarship will be offered an opportunity for a work\nplacement at Air Canada Maintenance. The initial agreement with the schools is\nfor three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Air Canada is committed to fostering the next\ngeneration of AMEs and we are proud to collaborate with these schools from\nacross Canada. This scholarship is in addition to other programs we have in\nplace, such as workplace integrated learning, and will help traditionally\nunder-represented students move forward with their education in this exciting,\nprofessional STEM field,&#8221; said Joshua Vanderveen, Vice President of\nMaintenance at Air Canada. &#8220;Today&#8217;s AMEs are highly skilled people who require\ntechnical expertise, critical thinking skills, effective, collaborative\nproblem-solving abilities in working with some of the most complex and advanced\ncommercial aircraft. Through initiatives like this, Air Canada is working to\nhelp the Canadian aviation industry continue developing skilled AMEs to support\ncommercial flights.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scholarships will be provided to students enrolled in\nthe AME programs at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), \u00c9cole\nNationale d&#8217;A\u00e9rotechnique, Centennial College, Fanshawe College, Canadore\nCollege, Mohawk College and Northern Lights College.
