She will lead the future business development and strategic direction of the 17,000-member strong nonprofit organization while partnering with the board of directors and overseeing staff and daily operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lynda-Coffman.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27509\" width=\"275\" height=\"275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lynda-Coffman.jpg 728w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lynda-Coffman-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lynda-Coffman-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lynda-Coffman-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 275px) 100vw, 275px\" \/><figcaption><em>Lynda Coffman<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Most recently, Lynda served as vice president of United\nAirlines and president of United Ground Express, a wholly owned airport\noperating subsidiary of United Airlines. She will draw on her over 30 years of\nsuccessful leadership positions at United in various roles that highlight her\npassion for financial management, operational oversight, strategic planning,\nand talent retention. Lynda has served on multiple private company and\nnonprofit boards and has received several awards for her influential contributions.\nA strong communicator dedicated to inspiring youth in aviation and aerospace,\nLynda has also held numerous leadership and sponsorship roles supporting\ninitiatives to champion diversity. She has a Bachelor of Science in mechanical\nengineering from Santa Clara University and a Master of Management from the\nKellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Lynda resides\nin Barrington, Illinois, with her husband, and they have a daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI look forward to bringing my experience and passion to\ncontinue to strengthen and grow WAI around the world while broadening support\nfor its mission,\u201d Lynda Coffman, WAI CEO said. \u201cLeading this organization is my\ndream job, and I look forward to connecting with our members and supporters to\ncontinue our expansive and strategic vision and contributions to this\nindustry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WAI Board Chair Captain Deborah Hecker added, \u201cThe\nboard\u2014through an extensive search for a new leader\u2014is thrilled to announce\nLynda\u2019s appointment as WAI CEO.
