{"id":27453,"date":"2023-12-24T00:07:41","date_gmt":"2023-12-24T00:07:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=27453"},"modified":"2023-12-24T00:07:42","modified_gmt":"2023-12-24T00:07:42","slug":"as-congress-passes-second-faa-extension-nbaa-reaffirms-call-for-long-term-reauthorization-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/as-congress-passes-second-faa-extension-nbaa-reaffirms-call-for-long-term-reauthorization-bill\/%20","title":{"rendered":"As Congress Passes Second FAA Extension; NBAA Reaffirms Call for Long-Term Reauthorization Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) marked\nlast night\u2019s passage of a second congressional extension to maintain\nauthorization for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) operations with a\nrenewed call for Congress to move forward with a new multi-year authorization\nbill for the agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this extension, the FAA will operate through March 8,\n2024, under the terms of the five-year FAA reauthorization bill passed by\nCongress in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the second three-month extension passed in lieu of a\nlong-term measure since Sept. 30. While the House of Representatives passed its\nlong-term, bipartisan FAA reauthorization measure earlier this year, similar\nlegislation remains under consideration in Senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe thank lawmakers for extending FAA authorization into\n2024,\u201d said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. \u201cHowever, an ongoing series of\nextensions creates the potential for disruptions to long-term planning for the\nFAA, and to the operational, safety and other agency services needed by the\naviation sector, which is among the nation\u2019s most highly regulated industries.\nWe will continue working with Congress to pass a multi-year authorization bill\nas soon as feasible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to securing the FAA\u2019s long-term operation, the\nHouse reauthorization measure contains many priorities supported by NBAA,\nincluding removal of barriers to pursuing aviation careers and expanding the\naviation workforce pipeline; improved training standards; and renewed funding\nfor airport infrastructure, with a focus on investments for small and general\naviation airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, NBAA joined with other general aviation associations in submitting a written statement to a House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation hearing on the risks in delays to securing a long-term FAA reauthorization measure.
