Badr\nMohammed Al-Meer has been elected to the International Air Transport\nAssociation\u2019s Board of Governors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the\ntrade association for the world\u2019s airlines, representing some 320 airlines or\n83% of total air traffic. IATA\u2019s mission is to represent, lead, and serve the\nairline industry where it advocates for the interests of airlines across the\nglobe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Badr-Mohammed-Al-Meer-edit-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27439\" width=\"228\" height=\"343\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Badr-Mohammed-Al-Meer-edit-2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Badr-Mohammed-Al-Meer-edit-2-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 228px) 100vw, 228px\" \/><figcaption><em>Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Engr. Badr Al-Meer will be able to support the association\nin shaping the future growth of safe, secure and sustainable air transport,\nworking with members to connect and enrich our world through air travel. His\nstrong aviation sector experience and knowledge will be put to use with his\nappointment as a Member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Air Carriers\u2019\nOrganization (AACO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AACO is the regional association of the Arab Airlines\nrepresenting 34 carriers. Its mission is to promote cooperation amongst its\nmembers in many areas such as aero-political affairs, environmental\nsustainability and training through its regional training center. Engr. Badr\nAl-Meer can draw upon his aviation industry experience in AACO\u2019s mission to\ncooperate with regional and international organizations, governmental and\nnon-governmental bodies, airlines, manufacturers and service providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Engr. Badr Al-Meer became GCEO of Qatar Airways on 5\nNovember 2023 following more than 10 years as the Chief Operating Officer of\nHamad International Airport. While leading HIA, Qatar\u2019s global hub airport and\ngateway to the world, he played an instrumental role in leading major airport\nmilestone projects, including the expansion project \u201cThe Orchard\u201d \u2013 an\nincredible tropical garden located at the center of the terminal expansion,\nwith world class dining outlets and luxurious shopping that has redefined the\nairport experience. The extension project was one of Doha\u2019s most challenging\nengineering programs and completed ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022\u2122.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 2018 to 2020, Engr. Badr Al-Meer was a Board Director\nof the Airports Council International in the Asia\/Pacific Region, where his\nexpertise contributed to Future Airport Development and Airport Sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His leadership was pivotal in Hamad International Airport\nreceiving a number of industry accolades including Skytrax\u2019s \u2018Best Airport in\nthe World\u2019 in 2021 and 2022, a testament to the capability and dedication of\nthe entire organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his career, Engr. Badr Al-Meer has played key roles in\nsome of Qatar\u2019s most iconic developments. As the Chief Operating Officer of\nHamad International Airport (HIA) since 2014, he led critical divisions such as\nMATAR \u2013 the Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management, Qatar\nDuty-Free, Qatar Aviation Services, Qatar Aviation Catering Company, Qatar\nDistribution Centre, Dhiafatina, and real estate. Engr. Badr Al-Meer has built\nan outstanding track record in construction, and large-scale project development.\nIn his new role as Group CEO, Engr.
