Fewest flight cancellations, taxi out time, and rideshare fees were among PHX\u2019s top scores in the Wall Street Journal\u2019s annual Airports Ranking study. This is the second time that Phoenix Sky Harbor has received this prestigious ranking. The Airport was previously ranked number 1 in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been at the airport dozens of times over the last year\nand a half for major announcements \u2013 the opening of the new Eighth Concourse;\nthe opening Stage 2 of the PHX Sky Train\u00ae; the launch of mobile ID for Apple\nWallet, the launch of Waymo, new air service announcements, Dementia-Friendly\ninitiatives, and making burgers with Bobby Flay,\u201d said Phoenix Mayor Kate\nGallego. \u201cAll those announcements and the hard work of the Sky Harbor team have\nbeen adding up. Their dedication and devotion earned us this recognition from\nthe Wall Street Journal, and we couldn\u2019t do it without our amazing Aviation\nteam and everyone who makes the airport run.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study examined the nation\u2019s largest airports on a number\nof factors including reliability, on-time performance, security wait times,\nairfare prices, customer satisfaction and more. Reliability was the key\nindicator in this survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>America\u2019s Friendliest Airport\u00ae scored very high in the\nreliability category due to Phoenix\u2019s weather, fewest flight cancellations, and\nthe time it takes for passengers to take off.&nbsp;\nThe Airport, which is the busiest three runway airport in the world,\nfocuses on running efficient airport operations on its airfield, on its curbs\nand roadways and in its terminals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Phoenix-Sky-Harbor-Terminal-3edit-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27309\" width=\"296\" height=\"176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Phoenix-Sky-Harbor-Terminal-3edit-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Phoenix-Sky-Harbor-Terminal-3edit-1-300x179.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPhoenix Sky Harbor is America\u2019s best airport for one simple\nreason, our commitment to provide an extraordinary airport experience for our\npassengers,\u201d said Phoenix City Councilwoman for District 1 Ann O\u2019Brien. \u201cWe\nknow that people love Sky Harbor for its access to local Arizona foods and\nrestaurants, and the dedication of our Aviation Department employees to deliver\na top-notch experience every day. I am immensely proud of our employees and our\ncity for these honors and look forward to welcoming even more travelers to our\ngreat city in the year ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Phoenix Sky Harbor\u2019s convenient location to\ndowntown Phoenix has been touted by locals and visitors alike, and its low-cost\nfares to get downtown via rideshare were also a standout in the survey.&nbsp; Among major airports, Phoenix Sky Harbor had\nthe lowest Uber X costs. The survey calculated the prices from the airport to\ndowntown areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phoenix Sky Harbor, which focuses on providing an\nextraordinary airport for a thriving Phoenix, has had over the past year a\nnumber of investments to elevate the passenger experience. This has included\nthe opening of a new eight gate concourse in Terminal 4, the extension of the\nPHX Sky Train\u00ae to the Rental Car Center, and innovative firsts like being the\nfirst airport in the country to offer mobile ID to travelers at the security\ncheckpoints and the first airport in the world to offer travelers the option to\ntake an autonomous vehicle via Waymo to and from the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a well-deserved honor, as the Airport is reliable,\nefficient, and strives to provide excellent service to passengers, said Phoenix\nCity Councilwoman for District 3 Debra Stark. \u201cPhoenix will continue to make\ninvestments and innovations at Sky Harbor that give us this distinguished\nreputation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>America\u2019s Friendliest Airport\u00ae also has a major focus on\naccessibility, and it\u2019s now being recognized on a global scale. International\nAirport Review held their Airport Honour Awards and on November 14, Phoenix Sky\nHarbor International Airport was awarded an Accessible Airport Award. This\nprestigious award recognizes airports who are committed to creating a welcoming\nand inclusive environment for all passengers and have implemented accessible\nfacilities, services, and programs to ensure that all passengers have equal\naccess to air travel. America\u2019s Friendliest Airport\u00ae was highly commended for\nefforts at assisting the visually impaired with the Aira app, having hearing\nloop technology for the hearing impaired, providing a Sensory Room for those\ntravelers who have sensory issues, and focusing on dementia-friendly training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is the\nfirst airport in the country to hold a Dementia-Friendly Travel Workshop for\ncaregivers of those with dementia. The workshop was held this summer. Future\nsessions are being planned for 2024, and the Airport was the winner this week\nin Airports Council International-North America\u2019s Excellence in Marketing,\nCommunications and Customer Experience Awards for Best Large Airport Customer\nService Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Airport has many other services and amenities like\naward-winning local dining options, a renowned volunteer program, one of the\nlargest airport art programs in the world, pet parks and more.
