She\nwill continue RTCA\u2019s commitment to safer skies through collaboration and\nsupport of emerging trends in aerospace with the development of\nperformance-based standards that serve as a basis for certification by the\nFederal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA),\nand other aviation regulators around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Huegel will join RTCA in December, succeeding Terry\nMcVenes, who will retire in January of 2024 after 5 years of distinguished\nservice to RTCA, and an aviation career spanning four decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn selecting Carol Huegel, we have chosen a proven aviation\nleader with a deep understanding of air traffic management and the significant\nrole of RTCA in ensuring the safety of the evolving national airspace system as\nwe look toward the integration of legacy and future users\u201d, said Lorne Cass,\nChairman of the Board for RTCA and President of AeroNowGen Solutions. Cass\nfurther remarked, \u201cThe Board has worked with Carol as a member of the Advisory\nBoard and more recently as Vice Chair of the Board and is confident she will\nlead the organization to new heights, fostering collaboration and innovation\nwithin the aviation community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huegel joins RTCA with 30+ years of service to ANSPs and\naircraft and airport operators around the globe. She launched her aviation\ncareer as a software engineer at ARINC, where she was first introduced to RTCA.\nShe has since held positions at Metron Aviation, where she was Senior VP\nBusiness Development, Advanced Research and Engineering Development, and\nAmerican Airlines where she was Managing Director Air Traffic and Surface\nManagement Strategy. Most recently she supported L3Harris and the Mission Networks\npartnership with the FAA. Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in\nstakeholder collaborative efforts that improve safety and efficiency, among\nthem \u2018Surface CDM\u2019 in the U.S. and \u2018Airport CDM\u2019 in Europe. She understands the\ncritical importance of collaboration and consensus in the development of\naviation standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huegel expressed \u201cI am deeply honored to take the baton from\nTerry and serve as the next leader of such an exceptional team.
