Woolpert led design for the $15 million project and\nprovided construction management, planning, and material testing services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new runway, extended from its original 5,500 feet to\n7,000 feet, was designed to provide an increased margin of safety for aircraft.\nConstruction was completed in multiple phases to allow the airport to remain\noperable for a majority of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indianapolis Airport Director Sam Sachs said the new runway\nrepresents a significant leap forward in the airport\u2019s ability to support the\ngrowing demand for aviation in the northern Indianapolis metropolitan area,\nincluding the rapidly growing communities within Hamilton County and Boone\nCounty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Indianapolis Executive Airport is proud to announce the\ncompletion of the most significant project in our 66-year history,\u201d Sachs said.\n\u201cThis 1,500-foot extension to our runway gives our customers access to one of\nthe longest general aviation runways in Indiana, opening new destinations\nacross the globe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Woolpert Program Director Chris Snyder said that the vision\nfor the project began in 2008 following the completion of the airport\u2019s master\nplan. Woolpert has worked with the Indianapolis Executive Airport for nearly\ntwo decades, providing architectural design and engineering support for various\nprojects, including the design of the airport\u2019s 19,000-square-foot corporate\nhangar for Beck\u2019s Hybrids in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Woolpert has had the honor of serving the Indianapolis\nExecutive Airport and its continued growth as a regional hub for corporate\ntraffic for many years now,\u201d Snyder said. \u201cWe are proud to complete this\nimportant, long-awaited project and look forward to watching the runway serve\nas a cornerstone for the next chapter at Indianapolis Executive Airport.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project was primarily funded by federal grants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe would like to give thanks to the Hamilton County\nCommissioners and Council, the Hamilton County Airport Authority, the Indiana\nDepartment of Transportation, and the Federal Aviation Administration for their\nhelp funding this monumental project,\u201d Sachs said. \u201cAnd we would like to thank\nWoolpert for their dedication to ensuring this project\u2019s success and for our\nnearly 20-year history of collaboration.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Indianapolis Executive Airport unveiled its newly completed runway at a grand opening ceremony on Tuesday following a five-year, phased extension project.
