{"id":27183,"date":"2023-11-13T22:06:46","date_gmt":"2023-11-13T22:06:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=27183"},"modified":"2023-11-13T22:06:47","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T22:06:47","slug":"nbaa-unveils-runway-focused-working-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/nbaa-unveils-runway-focused-working-group\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA Unveils Runway-Focused Working Group"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In written testimony submitted as part of a Senate hearing last\nweek, National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) President and CEO Ed Bolen\nnoted the business aviation community\u2019s longstanding, comprehensive approach to\naviation safety, and pointed to a new, dedicated NBAA working group focused\nspecifically on runway and surface incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to announce that NBAA is standing up a\nRunway and Surface Safety Working Group that will bring experts together across\nour committees, and across the industry, to address recent runway incidents and\nincursions,\u201d said Bolen. The formation of the group is intended to build upon\ndecades of experience acquired from the work of NBAA, its committees and the\nassociation\u2019s broader membership, in concert with government agencies and\nexperts across several professions, to maintain a holistic focus on aviation\nsafety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bolen\u2019s testimony was offered as part of the hearing, held\nby the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation\u2019s Subcommittee\non Aviation Safety, Operations and Innovation. The hearing was titled,\n\u201cAddressing Close Calls to Improve Aviation Safety.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Review Bolen\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/advocacy\/testimony-archives\/20231109-NBAA-Statement-Senate-Addressing-Close-Calls.pdf\">full testimony<\/a> provided to the subcommittee.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA\u2019s new Runway and Surface Safety Group adds to the\ncross-disciplinary approach the association and its members have long taken to\nglean underlying causes from accidents and apply the learnings to future\naccident avoidance.
