Located inside the Lleida\u2013Alguaire International\nAirport (\u201cLEDA\u201d), the center represents the first-of-its-kind in Europe for\nunmanned electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, setting a\nbenchmark globally for the effective integration of eVTOL aircraft operation\nwith airport infrastructure, air traffic management systems, operational\nprocedures, and other information technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"271\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/spain-airport-ehang.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/spain-airport-ehang.jpg 650w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/spain-airport-ehang-300x125.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><figcaption><em> EH216-S flying at LEDA with the airport, vertiport and planes behind. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The inception of this UAM center, a globally pioneering\ninitiative, arises from the collaboration agreement signed between EHang and\nAeroports de Catalunya in the field of UAM and will enable European aviation\nand airport sectors to be positioned at the forefront of global Advanced Air\nMobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On October 13th, 2023, the Civil Aviation Administration of\nChina (CAAC) issued the Type Certificate (TC) for EHang\u2019s EH216-S\npassenger-carrying Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle (UAV) System. An unprecedented\nmilestone in the aviation industry, the EH216-S is the first unmanned eVTOL in\nthe world to obtain TC and be qualified for commercial passenger-carrying UAV\noperations in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EH216-S deployed at EHang\u2019s European UAM Center will\nfoster the accumulation of operational experience as well as invaluable\nknowledge. By integrating vast flight experience gathered from various\nlocations worldwide, this collective information can be leveraged to the\ndevelopment of technological solutions, regulations, processes and procedures\nfor the safe and efficient integration of eVTOL aircraft into European airspace\nin the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UAM Center includes a vertiport that is fully compliance\nwith EASA\u2019s design criteria and will enable seamlessly incorporation with the\nairport terminal, platform, control tower, equipment, procedures and\nregulations.
