The National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF) has revealed the\nexceptional individuals chosen for induction in the prestigious Class of 2024.\nThis illustrious Annual Enshrinement event is set to take place in the fall of\n2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1962, the NAHF has been a symbol of excellence in\naviation and space exploration. With 262 distinguished honorees inducted, it\nstands as the only Congressionally-chartered aviation hall of fame in the\nUnited States. A dynamic panel of over 130 aviation professionals from across\nthe nation constitutes the NAHF Board of Nominations. Each year, they face the\narduous task of selecting the most deserving air and space pioneers for\ninduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet the Distinguished Class of 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NAHF Class of 2024 is a remarkable ensemble of\nindividuals who have left an indelible mark on the aviation and space\nindustries. Their contributions span a wide spectrum of accomplishments,\nfurthering the frontiers of flight and exploration. This year’s honorees\ninclude:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(The late) Don Bateman<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aerospace engineer, revolutionized aviation safety by\ndeveloping groundbreaking innovations, including the Ground Proximity Warning\nSystem (GPWS) and Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) that provide\ncritical alerts to pilots about their proximity to the ground, obstacles, and\nterrain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(The late) Gary Burrell and Dr. Min Kao<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-founders of Garmin brought GPS technology to a broad\nrange of consumer markets, including aviation. The duo brought products to\nmarket that revolutionized avionics, including the world\u2019s first fully\ncertified GPS receiver for instrument approaches, the G1000 glass-integrated\nflight deck, and inspired Garmin Autoland, the world\u2019s first certified\nautonomous system that activates during an emergency to safely land an aircraft\nwithout human intervention earning Garmin the prestigious Robert J. Collier\nTrophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Peggy Chabrian<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founder and long-time president of Women in Aviation\nInternational. Grew the organization from its first conference attended by 150\npeople in 1990 to an organization representing more than 15,000 women in all\naspects of aviation today. Her unwavering commitment has been instrumental in\nfostering gender diversity and empowering women in the aviation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Col. Fredrick Gregory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

United States Air Force pilot, accomplished military\nengineer, distinguished test pilot, NASA astronaut, and former NASA Deputy\nAdministrator. One of the pioneering first three African-Americans to venture\ninto space, the first African-American to pilot a shuttle mission in 1985, and\nthe first to command a space mission in 1989.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(The late) Katherine Gobel Johnson<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

American mathematician, played an indispensable role in\nNASA’s early space exploration endeavors. Her precise calculations of orbital\nmechanics, executed during her tenure as a NASA employee, were pivotal in\nensuring the success of not only the first but also subsequent U.S. crewed\nspaceflights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(The late) Joseph (Joe) Sutter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFather of the 747\u201d. Chief engineer for the development of\nthe 747.
