{"id":26947,"date":"2023-10-21T13:12:09","date_gmt":"2023-10-21T13:12:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=26947"},"modified":"2023-10-21T13:12:11","modified_gmt":"2023-10-21T13:12:11","slug":"49-million-in-state-funding-announced-for-airports-across-new-york-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/new-york\/49-million-in-state-funding-announced-for-airports-across-new-york-state\/%20","title":{"rendered":"$49 Million in State Funding Announced for Airports Across New York State"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Thirty-six public-use airports across New York State will\nreceive approximately $49 million for strategic infrastructure enhancements\nthat will enhance safety, facilitate innovation, leverage existing resources,\nadvance business development, and promote sustainability and resiliency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Administered by the New York State Department of\nTransportation, projects funded through the Aviation Capital Grant Program\ninclude the construction and rehabilitation of new and existing hangars,\nelectrification and carbon reduction programs, new and upgraded snow removal equipment,\nand updated security systems. These investments will serve to make the\nsurrounding communities more economically competitive with neighboring states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner\nMarie Therese Dominguez said, \u201cGovernor Hochul has once again shown that she\nunderstands that critical investments in transportation will cement New York\u2019s\nplace as a leader in global commerce and tourism. These targeted investments\nwill support projects that will have a positive, long-lasting impact on the\nlocal communities while improving the resiliency of our transportation\ninfrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Funding from the Aviation Capital Grant Program was awarded\nto the following projects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CAPITAL DISTRICT \u2013 $8.8 million<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Albany International Airport, Albany County &#8211; $1.6 million\ntoward the rehabilitation, safety overhaul, and energy efficiency modernization\nof existing elevators located in the existing terminal area and north parking\ngarage elevators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Columbia County Airport, Columbia County &#8211; $2.4 million\ntoward terminal building upgrades addressing the existing facilities\u2019 age and\nenergy inefficiencies by rehabilitation and replacement improvements to many of\nthe existing components within the terminal area space, hangar, and pilots\u2019\nlounge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saratoga County Airport, Saratoga County &#8211; $1.5 million\ntoward an emergency back-up generator to be run off the existing natural gas\nline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schenectady County Airport, Schenectady County &#8211; $0.9 million\ntoward the procurement of snow removal equipment (SRE), specifically a dual\nengine high speed snowblower vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>South Albany Airport, Albany County &#8211; $2.5 million toward\naddressing the demand for covered hanger space including the construction of a\npre-engineered metal T-hanger as well as the installation of a pre-engineered,\ncovered shade hangar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CENTRAL NEW YORK \u2013 $5.5 million<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cortland County Airport, Chase Field, Cortland County &#8211; $2.5\nmillion toward the construction of a new conventional aircraft storage hangar\nbuilding including offices and an expansion of the existing landside vehicle\nparking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oswego County Airport, Oswego County &#8211; $0.5 million toward\nthe acquisition of aviation fuel trucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Syracuse Regional Airport, Onondaga County &#8211; $2.5 million\ntoward the construction phase of a redesigned de-icing pad and control center\nto address current capacity and safety concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FINGER LAKES \u2013 $8.6 million<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finger Lakes Regional Airport, Seneca County &#8211; $2.3 million\ntoward the construction of a T-hangar building consisting of eight to ten bays\nfor the storage of airport-based aircraft, including concrete foundations and\nfloors, new lighting, power outlets, and bi-fold doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Frederick Douglass Great Rochester Regional Airport, Monroe\nCounty &#8211; $1.1 million toward airport electrification and carbon reduction\nthrough a program that can help eliminate the fossil-fuel powered equipment and\nvehicles and manage airport growth and electrical demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Genesee County Airport, Genesee County &#8211; $2.5 million toward\nthe construction of a storage facility for snow removal equipment (SRE)\nincluding the building, utilities, paved access, and associated site\nimprovements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Penn Yan Airport, Yates County &#8211; $2.3 million toward the\nconstruction of an eight-bay T-hangar including access pavement, drainage\nimprovements, and security gate improvements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Williamson-Sodus Airport, Wayne County &#8211; $0.4 million toward\nthe removal of airport obstructions, T-hangar improvements, electrical vehicle\nchargers, and pavement rehabilitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LONG ISLAND \u2013 $1 million<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Republic Airport, Suffolk County &#8211; $1 million toward safety\nand electrification; adding a snow removal broom to the airport\u2019s equipment fleet,\nreplacement of airfield mowers with autonomous, electric powered mowers, and to\nadd electric vehicle charging stations to the main terminal parking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MID-HUDSON \u2013 $1.5 million<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hudson Valley Regional Airport, Dutchess County &#8211; $0.2\nmillion toward the purchase of two electric mowers capable of maintaining the\nairfield turf areas, and the purchase of two electric support vehicles for\non-airport operations travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orange County Airport, Orange County &#8211; $1.4 million toward\nexpanding the visual area and technological capabilities of the existing\nsecurity and surveillance system consisting of upgrading existing security\ncameras, adding new security cameras, replacing existing keypads at automated\ngates and providing remote access technology, chain link fencing, and gates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MOHAWK VALLEY \u2013 $4.5 million<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fulton County Airport, Fulton County &#8211; $2 million toward the\nremoval and replacement of two existing underground aviation fuel tanks\nincluding the existing fuel dispensing system with a new fuel farm to include\ntwo above ground state-of-the-art fuel tanks and the associated self-serving\ndispensing systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Griffiss International Airport, Oneida County &#8211; $2.5 million\ntoward renovating and outfitting existing building to accommodate Navmar\nApplied Sciences Corporation\u2019s expansion who will be leasing the building long\nterm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NORTH COUNTRY \u2013 $7.7 million<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adirondack Regional Airport, Franklin County &#8211; $1 million\ntoward the completion of the town hangar and will include upgraded electric\nservice, lighting, installation of a heating system, insulation, painting of\nthe structural steel, replacement of metal roofing and siding, new liner\npanels, new windows, and new personnel doors<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Floyd Bennett memorial Airport, Warren County &#8211; $2.3 million\ntoward the removal of an existing dilapidated T-hangar and the construction of\na new six-unit T-hangar in the same location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Massena International Airport, St. Lawrence County &#8211; $0.1\nmillion toward the purchase of a batwing trailed mower and a snow removal\nsupport vehicle consisting of a commercial grade pick-up truck with material\nspreader and plow blades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Piseco Airport, Hamilton County &#8211; $0.1 million toward the\nacquisition of a skid steer for multipurpose maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plattsburgh International Airport, Clinton County &#8211; $2.0\nmillion toward a new eight-bay T-hangar with office space, including improved\naccess pavement, site drainage modifications, and pavement markings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watertown International Airport, Jefferson County &#8211; $2.1\nmillion toward the rehabilitation of a portion of Hangar D to extend its useful\nlife including reinforcing the building envelope to reduce areas where\ndeficiencies were identified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SOUTHERN TIER \u2013 $5.1 million<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Corning-Painted Post Airport, Steuben County &#8211; $0.3 million\ntoward the acquisition of an excavator with attachments for ground maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elmira Corning Regional Airport, Chemung County &#8211; $0.8\nmillion toward the acquisition of electrified equipment and associated charging\ninfrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Greater Binghamton Airport\/Edwin A. Link Field, Broome\nCounty &#8211; $0.8 million toward acquisition of several pieces of ground service\nequipment (GSE) including electric vehicles in the form of pushback\ntractor\/tugs (large and small) in order to prepare for an electric fleet in a\nstrategic manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ithaca Tompkins International Airport, Tompkins County &#8211;\n$1.4 million toward the construction of a 2,600 sq.ft. Emergency Operations\nfacility that would be co-located within a proposed Airport Rescue and Fire\nFighting\/Snow Removal Equipment (ARFF\/SRE) facility which is being funded by\nFAA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport, Chenango County &#8211; $0.6 million\ntoward the acquisition of a new snow removal equipment vehicle (snowplow), and\nattachments including snowplow and wing combination, and slide-in hopper with\nspreader for deicing and traction materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tri-Cities Airport, Broome County &#8211; $1.2 million toward the\nreplacement of the existing refueling facility and the installation of new fuel\ntanks as well as a new self-service credit card reader and tank monitoring\nsystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WESTERN NEW YORK \u2013 $6.3 million<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Buffalo Niagara International Airport, Erie County &#8211; $2.2\nmillion toward the purchase and installation of two replacement passenger\nboarding bridges (PBBs) with new pre-conditioned air (PCA) units and ground\npower units (GPUs) for Gates 8 and 22 at the BUF passenger terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chautauqua County Dunkirk Airport, Chautauqua County &#8211; $0.5\nmillion toward the replacement of two existing bi-fold hangar doors with new\nelectric bi-fold doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chautauqua County Jamestown Airport, Chautauqua County &#8211;\n$1.1 million toward the improvement of existing commercial space within the\nairport terminal building, replacement of a rapid heating system in an existing\nhangar, and the replacement of an existing security camera system in and around\nthe terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Niagara Falls International Airport, Niagara County &#8211; $1.3\nmillion toward the procurement of 10 pieces of equipment to enhance the safety\nand efficiency of snow removal operations and wildlife management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LeRoy Airport, Genesee County &#8211; $0.8 million toward the\nrehabilitation of existing asphalt taxiways, taxi lanes, aprons, and the\nvehicle parking area, as well as fuel farm rehabilitation including replacing\npumps, hoses, and nozzles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wellsville Municipal Airport, Allegany County &#8211; $0.5 million\ntoward the demolition\/removal of the existing north hangar roof and the\ninstallation of a new insulated metal roof system with new gutters and\ndownspouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Funding was awarded to projects through a competitive solicitation\nprocess and rated based on established criteria including economic benefits for\nsurrounding communities and businesses; adherence to regional economic\ndevelopment plans; safety improvements; improved operational efficiency; and\nenergy efficiency and emissions reduction.
