The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) announced that it has awarded Green UAS<\/a> certification to the Skyfront Perimeter 8 and 8+ long-endurance, hybrid-electric Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS). The platform is the first to complete the program\u2019s compliance testing and receive the \u2018Green UAS cleared\u2019 designation, which assesses and verifies commercial drones meet the highest levels of cybersecurity and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) supply chain requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Green UAS certification process included a review of\nPerimeter 8 and 8+\u2019s product security, including all components and\nsubcomponents, remote operations security, supply chain risk management and a\nreview of Skyfront\u2019s corporate cyber hygiene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCustomers are more aware than ever about the value drones can provide in their operations \u2013 but so too are they more aware than ever about possible cybersecurity challenges autonomous systems pose to organizations,\u201d said Troy Mestler, CEO of Skyfront. \u201cSkyfront<\/a> is proud to offer the first platform to pass the Green UAS certification process, which was rigorous and detailed. We look forward to demonstrating the advantages the Perimeter 8 can provide to users in need of a broad mission-set system that can carry large payloads for long durations with the highest security assurances available.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers in the commercial, civil and non-defense\ngovernment sectors \u2013 including federal and state agencies, law enforcement and\nfirst responders, and industrial enterprise \u2013 are increasingly relying on\ncommercial, off-the-shelf drones to conduct critical operations. Green UAS\ncertification is intended to provide these customers with a high level of trust\nand the same security assurances as the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU)\u2019s Blue UAS\ncertification for the platforms or components they purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAUVSI commends Skyfront for successfully designing,\nmanufacturing and obtaining certification for a drone that meets the highest\nlevels of cyber and supply chain security,\u201d said Michael Robbins, Chief\nAdvocacy Officer at AUVSI. \u201cWith more than a dozen other companies in various\nstages of the review process, the Perimeter 8 and 8+ will be the first of many\nGreen UAS certifications to come. We anticipate a robust government and\ncommercial marketplace for secure platforms on the Green UAS cleared list as\nmore platforms are certified in the months ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Green UAS framework is built off the Blue UAS\ncertification program but is designed for customers who do not immediately\nrequire a DoD authority to operate (ATO). Green UAS cleared drones can benefit\nfrom a streamlined pathway from Green to Blue if a DoD sponsor is secured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Green UAS certification is part of AUVSI\u2019s broader Trusted\nCyber Certification program, which focuses on systems in the air, ground, and\nmaritime domains. The AUVSI Trusted program will also be expanded to include\ncertifications for specific user industries or system domains.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
