The Arizona Department of Transportation\u2019s Aeronautics Group\ncited the northern Arizona airport\u2019s community outreach, including an expanded\nFly-in and Airshow attended by 1,400 people, Facebook and Instagram promotion\nof events, a new logo submitted by a member of the public and school tours\nattended by more than 300 area students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, the airport spruced up its grounds, added\nenvironmentally friendly landscaping around the terminal, installed new\nperimeter fencing, developed plans for 13 new hangars and upgraded vending\nmachines in its terminal to accept credit cards and Apple Pay. Many of the\nairport\u2019s upgrades were volunteer efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the second time Colorado City Municipal Airport has\nbeen named the state\u2019s Airport of the Year. The first was in 1992. It is one of\n67 airports across Arizona that are publicly owned and publicly operated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
