The more than\n62,000-square-foot response center includes a 55,000-square-foot hangar, office\nspace, and the capacity to facilitate a wide range of aircraft maintenance\nactivities. It is staffed by 21 people, including pilots, flight engineers,\nload masters, maintenance personnel, and additional flight support staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samaritan&#8217;s Purse recently expanded its fleet of aircraft by\nadding a 757 freighter. The cargo hold is equivalent to the space of three\ntractor-trailers, and it can carry a maximum load of 67,000 pounds of\ncargo\u2014increasing the N.C.-based organization&#8217;s ability to respond to disasters\nat a moment&#8217;s notice. The 757 completed its first relief mission on Sept. 1,\nairlifting 24 tons of cargo to Maui, Hawaii, where volunteers are helping\nwildfire victims begin to recover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dr-Franklin-Graham.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26838\" width=\"211\" height=\"252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dr-Franklin-Graham.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dr-Franklin-Graham-251x300.jpg 251w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 211px) 100vw, 211px\" \/><figcaption> <em>Franklin Graham<\/em> <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Disasters and crises are happening more and more\nfrequently around the world. Things aren&#8217;t getting better, they seem to be\ngetting worse, and we want to help those who are suffering when their needs are\ngreatest. As a pilot, I know the value of aviation. It allows us to respond\nquickly when disasters strike\u2014we couldn&#8217;t do it without these tools and this\nteam,&#8221; said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan&#8217;s Purse. &#8220;We\nthank God for the new Greensboro Airlift Response Center and our two cargo\nplanes that give us the ability to meet needs in Jesus&#8217; Name.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m grateful for everyone who joined us including city officials, law enforcement, the airport authority, local church representatives, and many more.
