The Monterey Regional Airport was awarded two grants\ntotaling $25 million to support enhancements to the airport through the Airport\nImprovement Program (AIP) and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs\nAct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced the\nfederal grants, which were made possible through a $22 million Federal Aviation\nAdministration\u2019s AIP grant to support improvements to the airport\u2019s tarmac and\nterminal and $3 million from the Infrastructure Act for passenger terminal\ndesign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are very pleased and excited that the Federal Aviation\nAdministration has awarded this grant to Monterey Regional Airport,\u201d said\nMonterey Regional Airport Executive Director Michael La Pier. \u201cThis continued\ncommitment to our Safety Enhancement Program will allow us to begin\nconstruction of new infrastructure to support a relocated terminal building, one\nof the key components of our program to ensure continued safe operations. We\u2019d\nlike to thank Congressman Panetta and his staff for their tireless work on\nbehalf of the program and this grant. This is one of the largest grants the\nairport has been awarded and will go a long way toward achieving our goal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act\nprovided $15 billion in airport infrastructure funding. The money can be\ninvested in runways, taxiways, safety and sustainability projects, as well as\nterminal, airport-transit connections, and roadway projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
