Henderson, an enthusiastic aviation proponent. The Trophy is\nawarded annually to a living individual, group of individuals, or an\norganization whose vision, leadership or skill made a significant and lasting\ncontribution to the promotion and advancement of aviation and aerospace.\nNominees are proposed by the NAA President and approved by the NAA Executive\nCommittee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sisters of the Skies, Inc\u2122 is being honored for their\ncommitment to increase awareness of the opportunities in aviation and increase\nthe number of Black female pilots who are introduced, celebrated, and supported\nthrough their scholarship, mentorship, professional development, and outreach\nprograms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe growth of aviation as an industry and as a career is\nthreatened by the lack of a broad pipeline for talent,\u201d said NAA President\n&amp; CEO Greg Principato. \u201cSisters of the Skies makes an incredible\ncontribution to solving that problem. They are building the future of aviation.\nIt is exactly this kind of passion and commitment that we seek to honor with\nthe Clifford Henderson Trophy, and it will be an honor to present the 2023\naward to Sisters of the Skies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sisters of the Skies, Inc\u2122, originated in 2016 by two\npilots, was initially founded to connect the few Black female pilots flying\ncommercially and for the U.S. Military. As they began to turn to current\naviators for support, they soon discovered that more was needed. Since its\nfounding, Sisters of the Skies, Inc\u2122 has grown to a multifaceted organization\nthat attracts and retains aviation professionals as well as provides\nrepresentation to a new generation of pilots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Henderson Trophy holds profound significance for\nSisters of the Skies, serving as a testament to our unwavering dedication and\ncommitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable industry,\u201d said Sisters\nof the Skies, Inc\u2122 Co-Founder Nia Gilliam-Wordlaw. \u201cThis prestigious award\nvalidates our mission, recognizes our accomplishments, and powerfully affirms\nthe impact we are making in the field of aviation.
