Photo by Kim Stevens.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Aeronautic Association (NAA) and the\nNinety-Nines, International Organization of Women Pilots announced that Julie\nClark has been selected as the recipient of the 2023 Katharine Wright Memorial\nTrophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Julie-Clark-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26435\" width=\"188\" height=\"221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Julie-Clark-edit.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Julie-Clark-edit-256x300.jpg 256w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 188px) 100vw, 188px\" \/><figcaption><em>Julie Clark<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Katherine Wright Award means so much to me because I\nlove to inspire and encourage young aviators,\u201d said Clark. \u201cI know that\nKatherine Wright was a true supporter of her famous brothers\u2019 endeavors, and\nalways put their activities ahead of her own. She was a real compassionate and\nloyal sister! How very honored I am to be selected for this amazing award.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clark is being honored for her significant contributions to\nthe art and sport of aviation, the success of others and the promotion of\naerospace education for more than a half-century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThroughout her life, Julie Clark has shown dedication,\nremarkable skill, and a passion for excellence,\u201d said Ninety-Nines,\nInternational Organization of Women Pilots President Robin Hadfield. \u201cHer\naviation journey stands as an example of what can be achieved when one combines\ntalent with determination, making her a true inspiration to all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Julie Clark is widely known for her 40-year airshow career\nas well as one of the first female pilots to fly for a major airline. Clark is\nan original charter member of The International Society of Women Airline Pilots\n(ISA+21). Always going above and beyond, she contributes her knowledge and\nsupport to the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) by serving as a member\nof the Board, chair of the Regional Satellite Chapters, and as an Aerobatic\nCompetency Evaluator. Additionally, Julie serves as a mentor of the EAA\u2019s\n\u201cWomen Soar\u201d program. She also personally mentors young aerobatic pilots\nseeking a career as an air show performer and inspires countless other young\npeople to pursue a career in aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFrom the start of Julie\u2019s aviation career to the present\nday, she has constantly sought ways to lift and inspire others,\u201d said NAA\nPresident &amp; CEO Greg Principato. \u201cMany talk about giving back, Julie\ndefines the term. She is the definition of a Katharine Wright Trophy recipient,\ngreat in her own right and making all others around her better. It will be our\nhonor to present the Katharine Wright Trophy to Julie Clark.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Katharine Wright Trophy was established in 1981 by the\nGates Learjet Corporation. The award was named in honor of Orville and Wilbur\nWright\u2019s sister, Katharine, who not only provided financial support to her\nbrothers\u2019 endeavors, but also emotional and public support to her brothers as\nwell.
