In addition to Reservations, over 100 vehicles have been pre-purchased\nby those wanting to gain the earliest delivery positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samson Sky, developers of the Switchblade, interrupted their\nongoing flight test program to display the vehicle at the world-class event.\nSupport for the Switchblade program has been overwhelming. \u201cOver the years,\nI&#8217;ve looked at several flying cars, but the Switchblade is one-of-a-kind and\ntruly revolutionary! I&#8217;m going to use it for recreation and in my business. My\ndaughter and I are both pilots and we can&#8217;t wait to get our flying sports car!\u201d\nsaid Heather G. Samson Reservations Manager, Martha Hall Bousfield, reported\nthat during the week-long event, hundreds of people shared their enthusiasm for\nSamson&#8217;s innovative vehicle. \u201cI&#8217;ve been following the Samson Switchblade for\nover a decade and as a pilot and engineer I&#8217;m eager to have my own! To always\nhave a car with you wherever you fly is such a huge asset and convenience,&#8221;\nstated Jon H.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26360\" width=\"331\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture2-1.jpg 624w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture2-1-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 331px) 100vw, 331px\" \/><figcaption><em>Switchblade mountain driving (Rendering), courtesy of Samson Sky. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was great to be back at AirVenture to take advantage of\nall the industry experts and suppliers who attend the show,\u201d said Sam\nBousfield, designer of the Switchblade, and Founder and CEO of Samson Sky. \u201cWe\nwere able to hold several key meetings with future partners and investors that\nmade the show an even bigger success for us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The test flights so far have been held at the Moses Lake\nAirport in Central Washington, with a flight test team making certain that the\ntesting was accomplished successfully. Powered by a 200 hp liquid cooled Samson\n3 engine, the vehicle is being run through a rigorous flight test program to\nvalidate flight capabilities and find and correct any deviations from the\ncompany\u2019s lofty goal of \u201chigh performance in both modes\u201d as a car and a plane.\nFlight testing will continue for several months while the Samson Team learns\nfrom these flights and finalizes the production engineering that will allow\nSamson to start Switchblade production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samson has been working through the details of production to\nkeep up with the great demand being expressed for the Switchblade. The team\nspent nearly four years developing carbon fiber production processes to enable\nthe company to ramp up parts production quickly and at much less cost than the\ncurrent state of the art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Switchblade is a three-wheel, street-legal vehicle that\nyou keep parked in your garage.&nbsp; You\ndrive it from your garage to a nearby airport. Once there, the wings swing out\nand the tail extends in under three minutes. You fly your registered aircraft\nto the airport nearest your destination, at up to 160mph.
