As a member of the\nSenate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Committee,\nHoeven secured nearly $50 million in federal funding for the runway\nreconstruction and extension project, which added 900 feet to the runway\nlength, making it 7,300 feet long. In total, the airport received approximately\na total of $67.8 million in federal, state and local funding for the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe newly expanded runway enables the airport to\naccommodate the aircraft necessary to meet the needs of the community and is\nvital in supporting the larger aircrafts necessary to move both passengers and\ncargo safely and efficiently. We secured $50 million to advance this project to\nhelp meet the needs of the community now and into the future,\u201d said Hoeven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoeven has also worked to ensure commercial service at the\nairport, and last year announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation\n(DOT) selected United Airlines for an EAS contract serving the Theodore\nRoosevelt Regional Airport. Under the contract, United is providing 12 nonstop\nround trips per week to Denver through September 30, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, Hoeven is working to advance the airport\u2019s\nTerminal Development Project to help accommodate increasing demands on the\nairport. At a meeting with local leaders last year, Hoeven helped kick off the\nproject, which will develop an approximately 20,000 sq. ft. terminal. The\nnearly $55 million project is expected to require more than $35 million in\nfederal funds, which Hoeven will work to secure through his role on the Senate\nTransportation Appropriations Committee, with the remaining funds coming from\nthe City of Dickinson, Stark County and the State of North Dakota.
