Don Majercik prepares to board the Vermont Wing\u2019s C-182 aircraft for a photo mission over Vermont. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Civil Air Patrol\u2019s Vermont Wing has flown numerous missions\nstatewide this past week and planning more in support of relief efforts being\nconducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in response to severe\nflooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of this morning, the wing had provided almost 4,000\ndigital images taken at low altitudes throughout the state. John Compo, mission pilot, readies a flight plan in support of FEMA flood relief efforts.  <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Acting as a Total Force partner and official civilian\nauxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, Civil Air Patrol helps First Air Force rapidly\nrespond to nonmilitary threats domestically in a Defense Support of Civil\nAuthorities capacity to save lives, relieve suffering, prevent property damage,\nand provide humanitarian assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three-member aircrews \u2014 a pilot, a mission observer, and a\nphotographer \u2014 from the Burlington Senior Squadron flew CAP aircraft out of\nwing headquarters at Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport. Members of\nthe Burlington squadron also served as mission support staff on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVermont Wing aircrews and support staff immediately\nresponded to FEMA requests, relayed through our CAP Northeast Region command,\nfor detailed airborne imagery taken over dozens of Vermont communities,\u201d said\nCol. Richard Estey prepares his camera for an aerial photography mission. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDespite difficult circumstances in their hometowns, and\nconcurrent with their participation in other flood relief efforts, our crews\nacted according to their training and commitment to the people of Vermont,\u201d\nBeach said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CAP\u2019s New Hampshire and Massachusetts wings have also\nprovided airborne assistance, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The wing anticipates additional missions will be assigned\nthis week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beach singled out the wing\u2019s director of operations, Capt.\nJohn Campos, and assistant director of operations, Capt.
