Beyer succeeds Steve Alterman who is retiring after\nsuccessfully leading the organization for more than 40 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of the Cargo Airline Association, I would like to\nthank Steve Alterman for his dedicated advocacy efforts over the past four\ndecades,\u201d said John Maxwell, General Counsel Americas for FedEx Express and\nChairman of the Cargo Airline Association Board of Directors. \u201cThrough Steve\u2019s\nleadership, we have been able to build and advance the U.S. air cargo industry,\ncreating expansive global supply chains that connect the U.S. and global\neconomy. Looking forward, I&#8217;m pleased to have Lauren Beyer joining us as CAA\u2019s\nnext president. Lauren&#8217;s impressive portfolio of government and industry\nexperience, in the U.S. and internationally, makes her ideally suited to lead\nCAA as it informs and shapes policies necessary to protect and grow this\ncritical sector of the U.S. economy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As President of CAA, Lauren Beyer will bring her breadth of\nexperience to lead advocacy and inform policymakers, regulators and others on\nthe importance and operational realities of the air cargo supply chain. Her\nproven expertise will be critical to building and enhancing relationships with\ngovernment partners to foster strong collaboration that prioritizes the safety\nand security of the global air cargo industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I am thrilled to be joining the CAA team and leading\nthis critical organization,\u201d said Beyer. \u201cThe air cargo industry is\nindispensable to the modern world, and it is an honor to bring my government\nand industry experience to bear on behalf of CAA\u2019s members. I look forward to\nfostering an environment where air cargo can continue to grow and drive the\nglobal economy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyer previously served as the Vice President of Security\nand Facilitation at Airlines for America where she represented the largest U.S.\npassenger and cargo airlines to the federal government on all security,\ncybersecurity, cargo, and passenger facilitation issues. She led key COVID-19\nresponse efforts on behalf of the U.S. airlines, including managing a pivotal\nindependent research project on the safety of air travel.&nbsp; Prior to that, she was the Director of\nAviation and Surface Transportation Security at The National Security Council.\nDuring her tenure, she directed and coordinated national aviation security\npolicies and led interagency execution of White House priorities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Cargo Airline Association (CAA), the leading advocacy organization for the air cargo industry, today announced the appointment of Lauren Beyer as President.
