Roger Wicker"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The U.S. Contract Tower Association (USCTA), which\ncoordinates contract tower issues with Congress, the Department of\nTransportation, the Federal Aviation Administration, and other agencies, on\nJuly 12 issued its 2023 Leadership Award to Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"222\" height=\"207\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/US-Contract-Tower-Award-to-Wickam-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26135\"\/><figcaption><em>U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) (center) receives U.S. Contract Tower Association\u2019s 2023 Leadership Award from Golden Triangle Regional Airport Executive Director Matt Dowell (left) and USCTA\u2019s Brad Van Dam. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Golden Triangle Regional Airport Director Matt Dowell,\nA.A.E, and USCTA\u2019S Brad Van Dam presented the award to Wicker in appreciation\nand recognition of his distinguished service and leadership and for being a\nstrong advocate for airports in Mississippi and around the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSenator Wicker has been a particularly strong proponent of\nthe FAA Contract Tower Program and has worked to enhance safety at small\nairports in Mississippi and around the country,\u201d said USCTA Executive Director\nBrad Van Dam. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful for his continued leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>USCTA Vice Chair Vinicio \u201cLenny\u201d Llerena, A.A.E., ACE, also\npresented the association\u2019s Distinguished Service Award to Jim Slate, a Senior\nAdvisor at Robinson Aviation (RVA); and the Walt Strong, A.A.E., Contract Tower\nIndustry Advocacy Award to Todd Woodward, Director of Marketing &amp; Public\nAffairs at Spokane International Airport. The award ceremony occurred at the\nAssociation\u2019s Annual Conference in Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of USCTA, I would like to express my sincere\nappreciation to both for their hard work and dedication,\u201d Van Dam said.\n\u201cBecause of their tireless efforts, USCTA was able late last year to convince\nCongress to pass the CONTRACT Act, a bill that will help address staffing\nchallenges at contract tower airports.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slate has been a reliable voice for the Contract Tower\nProgram and was a driving force behind the CONTRACT Act.
