{"id":26121,"date":"2023-07-17T00:13:10","date_gmt":"2023-07-17T00:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=26121"},"modified":"2023-07-17T00:13:12","modified_gmt":"2023-07-17T00:13:12","slug":"ndot-congratulates-wahoo-municipal-airport-runway-improvements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/nebraska\/ndot-congratulates-wahoo-municipal-airport-runway-improvements\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NDOT Congratulates Wahoo Municipal Airport Runway Improvements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Wahoo Municipal Airport celebrated the completion of its\nreconstructed runway, an improvement made possible through the Federal Aviation\nAdministration (FAA) Federal Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AIP grant provided funding for a full reconstruction of\nRunway 2\/20. The consultant for the project was Olsson out of Lincoln and the\ncontractor was Paulsen, Inc. out of Cozad. The grant provided $4.3 million\ntoward the project, with the total cost of the project approximately $5\nmillion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project was completed in April of this year and\nincreases efficiency, reliability, and service for the regional airport.\nFunding for this project was primarily provided by the AIP grant funds, with\n10% of the funding coming from COVID-19 emergency acts, including the American\nRescue Plan of 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) Aeronautics\nDivision assisted with the administration of the grant awarded to the Wahoo\nAirport Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs NDOT continues its goal of improving mobility in the\nstate, leveraging partnerships at all levels of government creates\nopportunities for projects that may have been previously out of reach. FAA Central\nRegion in Kansas City has been an excellent advocate in providing guidance to\nour local partners on ways to streamline the grant process,\u201d said Vicki Kramer,\nDirector of NDOT. \u201cThrough these partnerships, NDOT Aeronautics Division is equipped\nto assist and support local airports on the application process while working\nwith the FAA to ensure timely receipt of funding. NDOT looks forward to\ncontinuing our work with airports as their communities look to maximize the use\nof federal grant funds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLocal airports are a vital piece of our transportation\nnetwork in Nebraska,\u201d said Jeremy Borrell, Director of NDOT Aeronautics\nDivision. \u201cWe celebrate the success of this project with Wahoo and the\ninvestment it means for the community.
