{"id":26115,"date":"2023-07-16T15:05:26","date_gmt":"2023-07-16T15:05:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=26115"},"modified":"2023-07-16T15:05:29","modified_gmt":"2023-07-16T15:05:29","slug":"wisk-to-make-eaa-airventure-oshkosh-debut-with-autonomous-air-taxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/international-news\/wisk-to-make-eaa-airventure-oshkosh-debut-with-autonomous-air-taxi\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Wisk to Make EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Debut with Autonomous Air Taxi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Wisk Aero will make its EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023 air show\ndebut this July displaying its 6th Generation air taxi, which is undergoing FAA\ncertification to be the first autonomous, passenger-carrying, electric air taxi\nfor commercial use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company will have a number of opportunities for show\nattendees to learn more about autonomous passenger flight and the company\u2019s\nvision of safe, everyday flight for everyone.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6th Generation Air Taxi Display<\/strong>: The company\u2019s 6th Generation air taxi &#8211; the world\u2019s first four-passenger, autonomous, electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi &#8211; will be on display in the Wisk chalet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>General Aviation Forum Session:<\/strong> Wisk will host a special Forum session addressing the impact of autonomous air taxis on general aviation, including a Q&amp;A session for attendees to ask questions. The Forum sessions will include a panel of general aviation pilots that work at Wisk and will be moderated by Steve Thorne of FlightChops. The Forum sessions will take place at Forum Stage 5, on Monday, July 24 from 10:00-11:15am CDT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMany of our employees are pilots and we have long dreamed\nof sharing the groundbreaking, innovative work that we\u2019re doing at Oshkosh,\u201d\nsaid Brian Yutko, CEO of Wisk. \u201cThis year, we\u2019re fulfilling that dream. We are\nexcited to introduce the Oshkosh community to our 6th Generation air taxi and\nto sharing more about how autonomous flight is going to positively change the\nfuture of aviation.\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike remotely piloted aircraft that are flown with\ntraditional flight controls by a human pilot on the ground, Wisk\u2019s aircraft fly\nthemselves while being monitored from the ground. Each flight is monitored (not\nremotely piloted) by a ground-based supervisor that can intervene by sending\nnew commands that the aircraft then executes autonomously. This unique\nautonomous approach combines existing automation technologies with proprietary\nautonomous software and additional capabilities.
