Intentionally designed for the\ndiverse skill development and training needs of its current and future\nworkforce, the more than 100,000-square-foot facility will be located on\nTextron Aviation\u2019s East Wichita Campus and serve as the centralized hub for the\ncompany\u2019s hiring, training and talent development initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/488974-Hiring-and-Learning-Center_Interior-Rendering-07b001-original-1686949159.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25868\" width=\"358\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/488974-Hiring-and-Learning-Center_Interior-Rendering-07b001-original-1686949159.png 828w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/488974-Hiring-and-Learning-Center_Interior-Rendering-07b001-original-1686949159-300x166.png 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/488974-Hiring-and-Learning-Center_Interior-Rendering-07b001-original-1686949159-750x410.png 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 358px) 100vw, 358px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur commitment to investing in our employees is unwavering,\nand the establishment of the Hiring and Learning Center is just the latest\nexample of how we are advancing our focus on growing a world-class workforce,\u201d\nsaid Maggie Topping, senior vice president, Human Resources &amp;\nCommunications. \u201cCentralizing our workforce development within this advanced\nfacility is a success multiplier. It will not only equip our team with paid job\ntraining to achieve their full potential but also shape the future of Textron\nAviation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Textron Aviation\u2019s Hiring and Learning Center will bring\ntogether programs focused on skill development, job and technical training and\nhiring activities that are currently dispersed across multiple buildings and\ncampuses into a single facility with an expanded footprint. As part of the\ncompany\u2019s ongoing efforts to set employees up for success right from the start\nand support them throughout their careers, the facility will house specialty\ntraining settings and classes, and participating employees will be paid while\ncompleting the courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The facility will include a paint lab, sheet metal training,\nflight control rigging and blueprint reading and interpretation. Additionally,\na new K-12 experiential space, multiple classrooms, learning labs and\ninterviewing and onboarding spaces will be located onsite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recognition and support of this initiative, the State of\nKansas recently awarded Textron Aviation $3,325,000 as part of the Aviation\nLearning Opportunities &amp; Funded Training (ALOFT) grant. The intended\nutilization of the grant funds is toward the construction of the facility,\nwhich is already underway. SPT Architecture, Conco Construction and\nProfessional Engineering Consultants are teaming up on the project, which is\nexpected to be completed by August 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Textron Aviation\u2019s continued attention on hiring a future\nworkforce is a multifaceted strategy including K-12 initiatives, paid high\nschool and college internships, externships for educators, returnships for\nexperienced professionals re-entering the workforce, military recruitment, and\nuniversity relationships, including support of technical education institutions\nand programs. To upskill its existing workforce, Textron Aviation offers\nmultiple earn-and-learn programs that provide structured on-the-job training to\nbuild skills and advance careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company remains focused on its long-term strategic\nworkforce plan and continues hiring for professional and skilled positions\nacross its global facilities. Based on growth and attrition, Textron Aviation\nplans to onboard more than 2,000 employees in 2023.
