This earned classification\nformally recognizes National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)\npartners strengthening the nation&#8217;s resistance to extreme weather, water and\nclimate events. As a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador, ATL will educate\nstakeholders and local communities on severe weather preparedness. Additionally,\nATL is working with NOAA and other Ambassadors to strengthen national\nresilience against extreme weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This designation, received in mid-May, furthers the\ncollaboration ATL\u2019s Emergency Management (EM) has established with the National\nWeather Service (NWS) and strengthens the Airport\u2019s commitment to ensuring the\nsafety of its passengers and employees. ATL\u2019s EM Preparedness Team spearheaded\nthe effort to meet all requirements and guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur Emergency Management unit is the best in our industry,\u201d\nsaid ATL General Manager Balram \u201cB\u201d Bheodari. \u201cThe safety of our customers,\nstaff, and stakeholders is always our top priority. Pursuing and earning the\nWeather-Ready Nation Ambassador designation speaks to our commitment to ensure\nthat when nature is at its worst, we are at our best.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m proud of the EM team\u2019s actions that led to this\ndesignation,\u201d said ATL Assistant General Manager of Emergency Management Gus\nHudson. \u201cThis designation represents our ongoing commitment to partnering with\nour stakeholders, surrounding communities, state and federal partners in\npreparedness efforts of weather awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is ATL\u2019s second designation by the NWS. It also earned\nStormReady designation in 2017, which underscores its commitment to increased\nweather safety awareness for passengers and employees. The designation also\nprovides assurance of effective communication and preparedness before and\nduring severe weather events.
