This year\u2019s event marks the\nExperimental Aircraft Association\u2019s 70th fly-in convention, as the event\ntraditionally draws visitors from more than 80 nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While elements of public benefit flying will be shown\nthroughout AirVenture week, the primary focus will be on Saturday, July 29.\nThat day, a variety of aircraft relating to the theme will be on display on the\nshowcase Boeing Plaza, with additional aircraft participating in that day\u2019s\nafternoon air show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPublic benefit flying has a beneficial effect on people\u2019s\neveryday lives, even if they don\u2019t realize it,\u201d said Rick Larsen, EAA\u2019s vice\npresident of communities and member programs, who coordinates AirVenture\nfeatures and attractions. \u201cFrom flying cancer patients to treatment and air\nambulance operations to water rescues and even saving threatened animals,\naviation has a long, notable history of being used for the public good \u2013 often\nby people who volunteer their time and aircraft to make it happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Air Care Alliance is assisting with the organization of\nthe salute to public benefit flying. On July 29, airplanes on Boeing Plaza will\ninclude those representing the Alliance, as well Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Coast\nGuard, Wisconsin Air National Guard, JAARS, ThedaCare, Buffalo Airways, and\nFedEx. All these display aircraft have been used in humanitarian or public\nbenefit missions. The Air Care Alliance will make a special award presentation\nprior to that day\u2019s afternoon air show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the JAARS Pilatus aircraft will be used each\nday to deliver the skydivers and American flag that open AirVenture\u2019s afternoon\nair show.
