Wisk Aero<\/a> and Japan Airlines (JAL) are partnering to bring Wisk\u2019s self-flying, all-electric air taxi services to Japan. Additionally, Wisk and JAL Engineering (JALEC), will work closely together to develop plans for the maintenance and operation of Wisk\u2019s autonomous air taxis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed that\nestablishes a framework for collaboration between the two companies, as well as\nbetween the two companies and the Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB), and\nother relevant Japanese Government agencies. This will include careful\nconsideration of regulatory requirements, safety measures, and how the\ncommunity can benefit from advanced air mobility through the use of Wisk\u2019s 6th\nGeneration self-flying, electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL)\naircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specifically, the MOU establishes a framework for: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Research towards launching fleet operations for\nWisk\u2019s 6th Generation taxi, including type certification approval in Japan and\nmaintenance, repair and overhaul requirements<\/li>
  • Supporting discussion with the Japanese Civil\nAviation Bureau (JCAB) and relevant Japanese Government agencies, as\nappropriate, on the establishment of a Wisk operation under an Air Operators\nCertificate in Japan in the future<\/li>
  • Development of a path to a demonstration flight\nin Japan<\/li>
  • Introduction of autonomous aircraft into the\nJapanese national airspace system<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
