{"id":25543,"date":"2023-05-08T18:29:06","date_gmt":"2023-05-08T18:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=25543"},"modified":"2023-05-08T18:31:37","modified_gmt":"2023-05-08T18:31:37","slug":"centennial-airport-becomes-first-in-state-to-offer-unleaded-avgas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/colorado\/centennial-airport-becomes-first-in-state-to-offer-unleaded-avgas\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Centennial Airport Becomes First in State to Offer Unleaded Avgas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Photo above &#8211; Mike Fronapfel, Executive Director of Centennial Airport, announces that the airport is the first in Colorado to have UL94 unleaded aviation gasoline. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the first drop going into a 2022 Piper Archer owned by\nAspen Flying Club, Centennial Airport celebrated becoming the first airport in\nthe state of Colorado to offer unleaded aviation gas as jetCenters of Colorado\nbegan offering Swift 94UL Unleaded Avgas to its customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CDOT Division of Aeronautics Releases New Video Detailing Accomplishment &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fWefPwS9XWM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Watch Video<\/a>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday, Centennial Airport is proud to announce that we are\nthe first airport in Colorado to have UL94 unleaded aviation gasoline,\u201d said\nCentennial Airport Executive Director\/BEO Mike Fronapfel. \u201cThis milestone\ncouldn\u2019t have been possible without the partnership of our largest fixed base\noperator, jetCenters of Colorado, our three biggest flight schools, Aspen\nFlying Club, Flights Inc. and ATP, and feedback from the surrounding\ncommunities.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"279\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1469-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25545\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1469-edit.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1469-edit-300x140.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption><em>94UL is now available at Centennial Airport.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Arapahoe County Public Airport Authority Board of\nCommissioners cleared the way to bring the fuel to the airport by voting\nunanimously to incentive the adoption of an FAA-approved alternative unleaded\nfuel on March 16. The airport agreed to reimburse aircraft owners up to $110\nper aircraft based at Centennial Airport to secure a supplemental type\ncertificate that allows use of the unleaded avgas in the airplane. In addition,\nthe airport agreed to work with any fixed based operator at the airport to\ncover the difference in cost between 100LL avgas and unleaded avgas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cjetCenters of Colorado has been working with Centennial\nAirport and Avfuel over the last several months to support the Airport\u2019s effort\nin providing unleaded aviation fuel for its stakeholders, resulting in a\npositive impact to the surrounding communities,\u201d said Tony Buckley, president\nand CEO of jetCenters of Colorado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the initial goal to have the fuel available at the\nairport by summer, jetCenters of Colorado worked quickly to secure Swift 94UL\nUnleaded Avgas and made the decision to dedicate a tank to the new product,\nvastly lowering the cost per gallon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move comes upon the FAA-lead Eliminate Aviation Gas Lead\nEmissions (EAGLE) program having a goal of 2030 for a nationwide transition\nfrom 100LL to unleaded fuels. With the support of the community both on and off\nthe airport, Centennial Airport made the decision to help lead this change much\nsooner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am proud of how quickly Centennial Airport management,\nthe ACPAA board, and airport partners responded to our communities\u2019 concerns\nregarding the use of leaded fuel in propeller-driven aircraft,\u201d said ACPAA\nboard chair Thad Bagnoto. \u201cWe are proud to be the first airport in Colorado,\nand one of the first in the nation, to offer unleaded aviation gas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To date, nearly 20-percent of eligible aircraft and\n80-percent of flight school aircraft at Centennial Airport have secured the\nsupplemental type certificates to use the UL94 unleaded avgas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As research continues nationwide to identify and develop an\nunleaded aviation gas that is suitable for all aircraft, Centennial Airport\nremains committed to working with fuel suppliers and aircraft owners to make\nthis transition as seamless and effective as possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photo above &#8211; Mike Fronapfel, Executive Director of Centennial Airport, announces that the airport is the first in Colorado to have UL94 unleaded aviation gasoline.
