Fifty-eight aviation stakeholders will soon develop\nrecommendations for the expanded detection and mitigation of unmanned aircraft\nsystems (UAS). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) formed the UAS Detection and Mitigation Systems Aviation Rulemaking Committee<\/a> to ensure that new technologies designed to detect and mitigate risks from errant or hostile UAS do not adversely impact the safe and efficient operation of the nation\u2019s airspace. The ARC\u2019s 58 members<\/a> represent a diverse set of aviation stakeholders, including those from the UAS industry.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe FAA understands the potential risk posed by drones in\nthe hands of unwelcome actors and we want to involve the entire industry in\nfinding and using safe solutions,\u201d said Tonya Coultas, Acting Associate\nAdministrator for Security and Hazardous Materials Safety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Michael Robbins, Executive Vice President of the Association\nfor Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI); Matt Cornelius, Executive\nVice President of Airports Council International-North America; and Abigail\nSmith, Acting Executive Director of UAS Security for the FAA, serve as\nco-chairs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The committee will begin its work in May and issue a final\nreport in early 2024. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Fifty-eight aviation stakeholders will soon develop recommendations for the expanded detection and mitigation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
