{"id":25522,"date":"2023-05-08T01:15:13","date_gmt":"2023-05-08T01:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=25522"},"modified":"2023-05-08T01:15:15","modified_gmt":"2023-05-08T01:15:15","slug":"ndot-announces-17-36-million-in-federal-grants-for-airport-improvements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/nebraska\/ndot-announces-17-36-million-in-federal-grants-for-airport-improvements\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NDOT Announces $17.36 million in Federal Grants for Airport Improvements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently announced\nthat $17,362,302 million in federal grants were awarded to seven Nebraska\nairports, in Ainsworth, Burwell, Norfolk, North Platte, Scottsbluff, Sidney,\nand Wayne, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This second round of FY 2023 Airport Improvement Program\n(AIP) grants included $12,132,000 to rehabilitate the runway at Scottsbluff\u2019s\nWestern Nebraska Regional\/ William B. Heilig Field and $2.939,220 to\nreconstruct the taxiway at the North Platte Regional\/Lee Bird Field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AIP grants will provide a portion of funding to build new\nhangars at four airports: Ainsworth Regional &#8211; $553,980, Burwell Cram Field &#8211;\n$235,540, Sidney Municipal\/Lloyd W. Carr Field &#8211; $451,562, and Wayne Municipal\/Stan\nMorris Field &#8211; $450,000. The balance is being funded with other federal grants\nand local funds. Additional funding included $600,000 to the Norfolk\nRegional\/Karl Stefan Memorial Field to install runway lighting, airfield\nguidance signs and runway vertical\/visual guidance system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re happy to be able to partner with the FAA Central\nRegion in Kansas City to get this essential grant funding to our airports,\u201d\nsaid Ann Richart, AAE, Director of the Aeronautics Division of NDOT. Our partnership\nincludes lining up the appropriate grant funding, assisting the sponsor\n(airport) in applying for the grant, and working with the FAA to send grant\nfunds to the airport as their project progresses. NDOT looks forward to working\nwith the FAA in the future to ensure that our communities will be able to make\nmaximum use of these federal grant funds.
