Kuhlman joins AAAE after a 17 year-career at United Airlines, the last seven of which were spent as Managing Director, Congressional Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karen-Kuhlman.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25504\" width=\"241\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karen-Kuhlman.png 350w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karen-Kuhlman-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karen-Kuhlman-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karen-Kuhlman-60x60.png 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 241px) 100vw, 241px\" \/><figcaption><em>Karen Kuhlman<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have long been impressed with Karen\u2019s ability to deliver\nresults in Washington and am thrilled that she will be joining the talented\nAAAE team during such a critical time for airports,\u201d AAAE President and CEO\nTodd Hauptli said. \u201cThe experience and expertise Karen has gained over the past\ntwo decades helping the industry navigate unprecedented challenges will be a\nboon to AAAE and airport executives as we work to advance airport priorities in\nFAA reauthorization legislation and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Ranking\nDemocrat Rick Larsen (D-WA) noted that \u201cI am excited for Karen\u2019s new challenge.\nI have known her since 2001 when I worked with Rep. Brad Carson and Karen\nworked transportation for him. She is honest, straightforward, and clear. I\nwish her success in her new role.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAAAE is one of the most highly regarded and effective\norganizations in Washington, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to\nhelp build on the association\u2019s stellar record in achieving success for its\nmembers,\u201d Kuhlman said. \u201cI know first-hand the impact that airports have on\ncommunities across the country, and I am eager to go to work to help AAAE\nmembers advance their legislative and regulatory goals in the nation\u2019s\ncapital.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During her tenure at United, Kuhlman was responsible for\nhelping devise and execute the carrier\u2019s legislative and advocacy goals. Among\nher many accomplishments, Kuhlman led United\u2019s efforts to secure funding for\nthe airline industry during the COVID-19 pandemic, secured corporate priorities\nin multiple FAA reauthorization bills, and worked with senior corporate\nleadership to develop advocacy strategy for key company business initiatives\nand priorities.
