Calio was honored at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vaughn.edu\/\">Vaughn College<\/a> of Aeronautics and Technology\u2019s spring 2023 gala. Vaughn College, a private college in New York, specializes in aviation education and is a pipeline to many A4A member carriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Calio-at-Vaughn-College-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25373\" width=\"262\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Calio-at-Vaughn-College-edit.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Calio-at-Vaughn-College-edit-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 262px) 100vw, 262px\" \/><figcaption><em>Nicholas Calio<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am honored and humbled to celebrate Vaughn College\nbecause I believe in what Vaughn does, what it stands for and what it\nproduces,\u201d Calio said. \u201cYou are training future pilots, mechanics and air\ntraffic controllers, who will help keep the U.S. aviation safety record the\ngold standard in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a first-generation college graduate, Calio addressed the\nopportunities higher education provides and the importance of Vaughn\u2019s\nworkforce pipeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVaughn College does an exceptional job of instilling the\nsame message my parents instilled in me \u2013 the value of working hard to turn\ndreams into reality,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Calio specifically addressed Vaughn\u2019s Student Experience\nFund, a program that provides hands-on, off-campus learning experiences for\nstudents to connect with potential employers and alleviates some of the\nfinancial burden to allow students to accept internships that lead to careers\nin the aviation industry. He praised the program as a key driver of the\ninstitution\u2019s incredible 92 percent career placement rate for graduates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. airline industry is aggressively recruiting and\ninvesting in the \u2018next generation\u2019 of employees amid surging demand for air\ntravel. In fact, they have helped launch more than 100,000 careers since 2020\nfrom increasingly diverse backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA4A member carriers are recruiting aggressively and\ninvesting heavily in the \u2018next generation\u2019 of employees. That is why A4A and\nour carriers are proud to partner with educational institutions that are\nhelping students reach their career goals in the aviation industry,\u201d Calio\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, more than 90% of Americans have flown commercially in\ntheir lifetime \u2013 a percentage that continues to grow amid unprecedented\naccessibility and affordability.
