The Robert J. Collier Trophy has been awarded annually since\n1911 for the greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in America,\nwith respect to improving the performance, efficiency, and safety of air or\nspace vehicles, the value of which has been thoroughly demonstrated by actual\nuse during the preceding year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe James Webb Space Telescope is nothing short of a\nscientific feat and is a shining example of what NASA can accomplish when we\npush the boundaries of space exploration,\u201d said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson.\n\u201cFrom discovering some of the earliest galaxies ever observed to delivering a\nmore detailed view of exoplanet atmospheres than ever before, it\u2019s all due to\nthe hard work and dedication of the exceptional Webb team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The list of Collier recipients represents a timeline of the\nmost groundbreaking aviation achievements that created today\u2019s aerospace\nindustry. Previous recipients include momentous people and achievements such as\nOrville Wright (1913), Chuck Yeager (1947), and NASA\/JPL Ingenuity Team (2021).\nThe James Webb Space Telescope is appropriately placed among these history\nmakers for its unprecedented discovery mission to explore, identify and\nphotograph what lies beyond what is currently known and to seek what is\nunknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 11, 2022, President Biden shared the first images\ndelivered by the James Webb Telescope at a public event at the White House. \u201cThese\nimages are going to remind the world that America can do big things and remind\nthe American people \u2013 especially our children \u2013 that there\u2019s nothing beyond our\ncapacity,\u201d said President Biden in remarks during the event. \u201cWe can see\npossibilities no one has ever seen before. We can go places no one has ever\ngone before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The James Webb Team will be celebrated at the Collier Award\nDinner on June 15th, 2023. The event will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon\nCity, Washington, D.C.
