With a capacity for up to seven full-flight\nsimulators, the AEGEAN CAE Flight Training Centre will be part of AEGEAN&#8217;s new\n85,000 m2 technical base at Athens International Airport. The new center is\nexpected to begin pilot and cabin crew training by the end of 2023 and will be\nthe most advanced flight training hub in South-East Europe powered by green\nenergy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Agean-CAE-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25246\" width=\"317\" height=\"405\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Agean-CAE-edit.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Agean-CAE-edit-235x300.jpg 235w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 317px) 100vw, 317px\" \/><figcaption> <em>AEGEAN\u2019s CEO Dimitrios Gerogiannis and CAE\u2019s Group President, Civil Aviation, Nick Leontidis shake hands at an event to announce a joint venture between AEGEAN and CAE to open a new training center in Athens, Greece.  <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The joint venture will initially operate four (4)\nfull-flight simulators, including two Airbus A320neo, one Boeing 737NG, and one\nATR 72-600, as well as cabin crew training equipment, and will have space for\nthree (3) additional full-flight simulators. At full capacity, the center will\nbe able to train up to 3,500 pilots (42,000 pilot training hours) and many more\ncabin crew annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new Flight Training Centre expands CAE&#8217;s global training\nnetwork and is integral to the creation of AEGEAN&#8217;s aviation ecosystem in\nGreece. This is part of AEGEAN&#8217;s \u20ac 140 million investment to bolster the local\naviation industry and position the airline and Greece as an aviation hub in\nSoutheastern Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Flight Training Center will be powered by solar energy\nproduced by the 35,000 m2 of photovoltaic panels embedded in AEGEAN&#8217;s new\n&#8220;green&#8221; hangar, generating 3 MW or 4.4 Gwh of electricity annually,\nand located at one of Europe&#8217;s most sustainable airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dimitris Gerogiannis, CEO of AEGEAN, commented: &#8220;It is\nwith great pride that I announce this significant partnership with CAE, the\nglobal leader in civil aviation training, to establish the first aviation\necosystem for flight training and technical support services in Greece.
