{"id":25201,"date":"2023-03-27T20:08:43","date_gmt":"2023-03-27T20:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=25201"},"modified":"2023-03-27T20:08:45","modified_gmt":"2023-03-27T20:08:45","slug":"nbaas-aam-roundtable-continues-momentum-growth-at-2-year-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/nbaas-aam-roundtable-continues-momentum-growth-at-2-year-anniversary\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA\u2019s AAM Roundtable Continues Momentum, Growth at 2-Year Anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Advanced\nAir Mobility (AAM) Roundtable recently celebrated its two-year anniversary with\ncontinued momentum in the legislative and regulatory arenas and growth in\nmembership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AAM Roundtable, a forum for high-level policy planning with sector leaders to chart a course for the integration of AAM technologies into the nation\u2019s airspace and infrastructure, is focused on maintaining the U.S. position as a global leader in aviation and aerospace, as well as harnessing the full safety, economic, environmental and national security potential of AAM. Learn more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/aircraft-operations\/emerging-technologies\/advanced-air-mobility-aam\/nbaa-advanced-air-mobility-aam-roundtable\/?utm_source=&amp;utm_medium=Email&amp;utm_campaign=\">NBAA AAM Roundtable<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the AAM Roundtable will focus on ensuring U.S.\ncompetitiveness in the AAM market by working with the bipartisan congressional\nAAM Caucus and the leading authorizers in Congress to advance pro-AAM policies\nin the FAA reauthorization bill. The current FAA authorization is scheduled to\nexpire on Sept. 30, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cElectric aviation and AAM represent the next generation of\nair transportation in this country with the first commercial AAM flight scheduled\nto occur in 2025,\u201d said Kristie Greco Johnson, NBAA\u2019s senior vice president,\ngovernment affairs. \u201cTo achieve this deadline, the FAA must keep pace with\naircraft type certifications and the promised regulatory schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Johnson added, \u201cNBAA submitted its priorities to\ncongressional committees and is working with committees of each jurisdiction on\npriorities for FAA reauthorization that will support the launch of this sector\nwith investments and infrastructure and congressional oversight of the FAA\u2019s\nupcoming Special Federal Aviation Regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA is focused on ensuring the regulatory process moves\nforward in a timely way to reduce commercial risks and ensure international\ncompetitiveness for this emerging sector. A key challenge in achieving necessary\nmilestones is the FAA\u2019s ability to hire and retain a workforce with the right\ntechnical expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A January AAM Roundtable meeting featured congressional\nrepresentatives from both the House of Representatives and the Senate, and\nhigh-level FAA and Department of Energy officials, allowing roundtable members\nto share their challenges and discuss solutions with those in positions to\nsupport progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, the NBAA AAM Roundtable advocated for two key measures that were signed into law. S. 516, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/press-releases\/nbaa-hails-law-to-support-advanced-air-mobility-development\/?utm_source=&amp;utm_medium=Email&amp;utm_campaign=\">Advanced Air Mobility Coordination and Leadership Act<\/a>, requires the Secretary of Transportation to establish an advanced air mobility interagency working group to review and examine factors that will allow the maturation of the AAM ecosystem within the U.S. and develop an AAM national strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also supported the <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/press-releases\/house-passes-nbaa-supported-advanced-air-mobility-legislation\/?utm_source=&amp;utm_medium=Email&amp;utm_campaign=\">Advanced Aviation Infrastructure Modernization Act<\/a> (AAIM Act) establishing U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) grants to assist state, local and tribal governments and other entities in planning infrastructure to support AAM operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNBAA is proud of the work we have done together to start\nputting in place the building blocks for successful integration of AAM into the\nNational Airspace System, and I\u2019m excited for the road ahead, taking advantage\nof the opportunities that lie before us,\u201d said Johnson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founding members of NBAA\u2019s AAM Roundtable include Joby\nAviation, Lilium, Wisk, BETA Technologies, Supernal and Hillwood Aviation, with\nOverair joining earlier this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Roundtable recently celebrated its two-year anniversary with continued momentum in the legislative and regulatory arenas and growth in membership.
