View, Inc. announced its Smart Windows have been selected\nfor Phase II of the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) Concourse A\nexpansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the company\u2019s second project at CLT, following Phase\nI\u2019s installation of View Smart Windows in 2018, which saw the windows featured\nthroughout the Concourse A Connector and Gates A21-29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CLT, one of the nation\u2019s busiest airports welcoming nearly\n48 million passengers in 2022, is implementing a multi-phase capital\nimprovement plan for Concourse A to reinvent the travel experience for\nvisitors. Designed by C Design and Perkins & Will, Phase II is a\n189,000-square-foot expansion that will add ten gates and three levels. All\nPhase II gates and levels will feature View Smart Windows, optimizing the amount\nof natural light and reducing heat, glare, and energy consumption throughout\nthe concourse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By increasing exposure to daylight and access to views, View\nSmart Windows will elevate the passenger experience. View\u2019s impact on the\npassenger experience was concretely demonstrated in a study conducted by CLT\nand View following the Phase I expansion. Key findings included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Passengers were 68 percent more likely to report being \u201cvery\nsatisfied\u201d with the overall experience in gates with View Smart Windows than in\ngates with traditional windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The concourse with View Smart Windows had more natural light\nand less glare, and passengers rated it up to 33 percent more modern,\nefficient, bright and comfortable than the one with traditional windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seats at the gates with View Smart Windows are 15 degrees\ncooler than at gates with traditional windows, leading to a more comfortable\npassenger environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
