{"id":25102,"date":"2023-03-13T15:50:11","date_gmt":"2023-03-13T15:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=25102"},"modified":"2023-03-13T15:50:13","modified_gmt":"2023-03-13T15:50:13","slug":"colorado-lawmakers-introduce-legislation-designating-national-emily-warner-and-women-airline-pilots-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/colorado\/colorado-lawmakers-introduce-legislation-designating-national-emily-warner-and-women-airline-pilots-day\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Colorado Lawmakers Introduce Legislation Designating \u2018National Emily Warner and Women Airline Pilots Day\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In celebration of Women\u2019s history month and Women of\nAviation Worldwide Week, U.S. Senators John Hickenlooper and Michael Bennet and\nRepresentative Joe Neguse this week led a bipartisan group of Colorado\nlawmakers in introducing a resolution to designate March 8, 2023, as \u201cNational\nEmily Warner and Women Airline Pilots Day\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"218\" height=\"300\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/EmilyFlightDeck.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25103\"\/><figcaption><em>Emily Howell Warner<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Fifty years ago, Coloradan Emily Howell Warner became the\nfirst modern female airline pilot when she was hired by Frontier\nAirlines\u2013opening the sky for other female pilots. Throughout her career, Warner\ncontinued to break barriers, becoming the first female member of the Air Line\nPilots Association (ALPA) and the first female airline captain in the U.S. She\nwas also a founding member of the Colorado Pilots Association, the\nInternational Society of Women Airline Pilots, and the Friends of the\nGranby\/Grand County Airport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cColorado\u2019s history is full of fearless women who weren\u2019t\nafraid to be the \u2018first\u2019. Emily Warner paved the way for countless other female\nairline pilots who saw themselves in her. This resolution reminds us of the\nshoulders we stand on as we push for other \u2018firsts\u2019 in our history,\u201d said\nHickenlooper. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cColorado\u2019s own Emily Warner soared to new heights as the\nfirst modern woman to captain an American airline \u2013 making our state proud and\ninspiring a new generation of young women to set their sights on our skies. I\nam grateful to support this resolution memorializing her role as a trailblazer\nin our nation\u2019s history,\u201d said Bennet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEmily Warner was a pioneer in her field and a truly\nexemplary Coloradan. Her accomplishments and dedication to progress left a\nlasting legacy for gender equality in all professions.
