He will be retiring from North Carolina DOT Division of\nAviation on May 1. Walston also served as the NASAO Chair from 2020-2021 and\nwas awarded the Ken Rowe Ambassador of Aviation Award in 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Walston is a retired\nLieutenant Colonel in the NC Air National Guard, where he served as a Civil\nEngineer Operations Officer with the 245 Civil Engineer Flight located in\nCharlotte, NC.&nbsp; Lt. Col.
