The improvements include the addition of\ntwo passenger boarding bridges, expansion of hold rooms, improvements to\npassenger and baggage screening and handling areas, and upgrades to facilitate\nthe post-9\/11 passenger and baggage screening requirements. This funding comes\nfrom the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which Senator Tillis helped negotiate\nand pass into law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Coastal-Carolina-edit-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24941\" width=\"294\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Coastal-Carolina-edit-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Coastal-Carolina-edit-1-300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 294px) 100vw, 294px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCoastal Carolina Regional Airport serves as the \u2018Gateway to\nthe Crystal Coast and Outer Banks\u2019 and is a critical transportation asset for\nlocal citizens and military servicemembers,\u201d said Senator Tillis. \u201cThis grant\nwill allow the necessary expansion and improvements needed to keep up with demand\nand improve the flying experience for all passengers. I was proud to advocate\nfor this funding and am proud to have worked behind the scenes to negotiate,\nwrite, and pass the bipartisan law that is delivering this necessary grant to\nNew Bern.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are very proud to receive this grant funding for our\nterminal expansion project; this funding will serve to increase passenger\ncapacity, modernize ADA compliance, and improve energy efficiency while\nstrengthening the long-term appeal and functionality for passengers and\nairlines alike,\u201d said Andrew Shorter, Airport Director, Coastal Carolina\nRegional Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe recognize the airport as a vital community asset and we\nare appreciative of the cooperation and investment from the federal government\nto help move this important project forward,\u201d said Jason Jones, Chairman,\nCraven County Board of Commissioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are so thankful for the support of Senator Tillis in\nobtaining funding for EWN.
