{"id":24936,"date":"2023-02-28T16:15:27","date_gmt":"2023-02-28T16:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=24936"},"modified":"2023-02-28T16:15:29","modified_gmt":"2023-02-28T16:15:29","slug":"faa-validates-complaints-against-johnston-county-airport-authority","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/north-carolina\/faa-validates-complaints-against-johnston-county-airport-authority\/%20","title":{"rendered":"FAA Validates Complaints Against Johnston County Airport Authority"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration&#8217;s (FAA) Southern Region\nreviewed allegations made by Blue Line Aviation that the Johnston County\nAirport Authority, owner and operator of the Johnston County Airport (JNX),\nviolated its Federal Grant Assurance obligations. Airports that are Federally\nFunded are subject to certain requirements to protect the investment of public\ndollars. The Johnston County Airport was found to be in violation of those\nrequirements by discriminating against Blue Line Aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a letter to the Airport Authority dated February 6, 2023,\nthe FAA completed the review and found that the Johnston County Airport\nAuthority did not meet the FAA&#8217;s standard of compliance with regard to Grant\nAssurance 22 (Economic Nondiscrimination) and Grant Assurance 23 (Exclusive\nRights).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter states &#8220;\u201c\u2026by failing to enforce the updated\nrules and regulations consistently, the airport has thereby granted an\nexclusive use and an economic advantage to Triangle Aviation Solutions\nCorporation over potential competitors\u201c\u2026&#8221; The letter comes more than a year\nafter the complaint was initially filed with the North Carolina Division of\nAviation, part of the NC Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Johnston County Airport Authority has been the subject\nof multiple lawsuits and FAA complaints related to alleged mistreatment of Blue\nLine Aviation and Adventist World Aviation, amongst other groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trey Walters, founder of Blue Line Aviation says &#8220;It is\ngood to see the system work. It feels great to have the FAA validate what we have\nbeen saying for over a year. The Johnston County Airport Authority has acted\nimproperly and discriminated against Blue Line. We hope that they immediately\ncease this behavior so we can move forward productively. We stand ready to work\nwith County management and State Officials to make sure this discrimination\nnever happens again.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JNX is a federally-obligated general aviation airport in\ncentral North Carolina.
