{"id":24899,"date":"2023-02-25T13:57:38","date_gmt":"2023-02-25T13:57:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=24899"},"modified":"2023-02-26T15:48:40","modified_gmt":"2023-02-26T15:48:40","slug":"canada-celebrates-national-aviation-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/international-news\/canada-celebrates-national-aviation-day\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Canada Celebrates National Aviation Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>National Aviation Day was celebrated in Canada on the 23<sup>rd<\/sup>\nof February. &nbsp;&#8220;Every year we take time\nto celebrate Canada&#8217;s rich aviation heritage and recognize the special role\nthat aviation plays in connecting Canadians,\u201d said Omar Alghabra, Canadian Minister\nof Transport. \u201cThis year, we also want to recognize and celebrate the\nincredible work of the many aviation workers across the industry.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This day marks the anniversary of Canada&#8217;s first powered\nflight, when in 1909, pilot J.A.D. McCurdy flew the Silver Dart nearly 800 meters\nin Baddeck, Nova Scotia. This first flight over 100 years ago paved the way for\ntoday&#8217;s dedicated aviation and commercial pilots to connect people and move\ngoods safely and quickly across the country and around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAir transportation safety is a priority in Canada, and we\nhave one of the safest aviation systems in the world,\u201d continued Minister\nAlghabra. \u201cAirline and airport employees, flight crews, engineers, air traffic\ncontrollers and maintenance workers all help to ensure a high standard of safety\nand security for Canadian travelers.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canada&#8217;s aviation sector plays a key role in the country&#8217;s\neconomy, and in sustaining the social and economic well-being of communities.\nIn addition to supporting personal travel, Alghabra noted that aviation is a\nkey connector for Canadian business, health care, social services, and keeps the\ncountry\u2019s supply chains strong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As Canada continues to recover from the COVID-19\npandemic, investments in our aviation sector remain crucial to maintain safety,\nsecurity, and connectivity for travelers, workers, and our communities. It is\nimportant that we continue to ensure a strong and competitive Canadian air\nsector. Our government&#8217;s support will help airlines and airports invest in the\ninfrastructure and tools needed to help strengthen the industry and allow\nCanadians to feel safe and secure when they travel, while creating good\nmiddle-class jobs for Canadians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As we reflect on Canada&#8217;s aviation history, we are\ncommitted to continue collaborating with our partners, and to reinforce the\nimportance of connectivity.
