Starting this June, the Calgary,\nCanada-based airline will operate multiple weekly flights between MSP and\nEdmonton, Alberta (YEG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WestJet will become the 16th airline operating at MSP in\n2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to welcome WestJet to Minnesota and are\npleased to add an important business route to Edmonton from MSP,\u201d said Brian\nRyks, CEO of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, which owns and operates MSP.\n\u201cWestJet\u2019s arrival also opens up new connections for travelers across Western\nCanada and the United States leveraging their codeshare with Delta Air Lines,\nMSP\u2019s largest carrier.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched in 1996, WestJet is the second largest Canadian air\ncarrier, flying to 110 destinations in 24 countries. It has a fleet of 180\naircraft, operating primarily Boeing Next Generation 737s (700\/800) and the 737\nMax aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are delighted to be introducing our new service\nconnecting Edmonton with Minneapolis,\u201d said John Weatherill, WestJet chief\ncommercial officer. &#8220;As WestJet continues to strengthen our U.S. network\nofferings, we look forward to providing our guests on both side of the border\nwith convenient and affordable options for their business and leisure travel\nneeds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WestJet will fly to Edmonton five times per week, beginning\nJune 2. Booking is currently open through October. WestJet will be the only\nairline serving this destination from MSP, which will support important\nbusiness connections to Canada, Minnesota\u2019s top export market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur $18 billion trading relationship supports hundreds of\nthousands of Minnesota jobs, especially in key sectors like agriculture and\nenergy,\u201d said Ariel Delouya, Canada\u2019s Consul General in Minneapolis. \u201cThe new\nservice to Edmonton will make travel easier and faster between Minnesota, the\nbroader Midwest, and all of Western Canada, strengthening partnerships and\nopening new opportunities between people, communities and businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the addition of Edmonton, MSP airlines will operate\nnon-stop service to a total of six Canadian destinations.
