The end state of the project could result in aerospace companies creating up to 100 new jobs over time with an average annual wage of $43,435.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are so pleased to begin developing this property with\nthe help from the Golden LEAF Foundation, this is the spark that the airport\nneeded to successfully transition the vacant property into a leading aerospace\nbusiness site for the region. This development will help increase the current\n$513 million annual impact of the airport,\u201d said Airport Director Andy Shorter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new area will be adjacent to the main runway at EWN and\nhave easy access to Old Airport Road and future Interstate 42. The project will\nbegin this Spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Craven County Board of Commissioners are grateful for\nGolden LEAF\u2019s investment, as the airport is a critical asset for our County and\nthe region. This project signifies a continued commitment to strengthening\neconomic development in Craven County,\u201d said Jason Jones, Chairman of the\nCraven County Board of Commissioners and Coastal Carolina Regional Airport\nAuthority Board Member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Golden LEAF Board of Directors supports the development\nof industrial sites to attract new businesses and create opportunities for\nexisting businesses to expand, especially in rural areas,\u201d said Scott T.\nHamilton, Golden LEAF President, Chief Executive Officer. \u201cWe are excited about\nthe job creation potential this project will have for Craven County and across\nthe region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Golden LEAF Foundation is a nonprofit organization\nestablished in 1999 to receive a portion of North Carolina\u2019s funding from the\n1998 Master Settlement Agreement with cigarette manufacturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more than 20 years, Golden LEAF has worked to increase\neconomic opportunity in North Carolina\u2019s rural and tobacco-dependent\ncommunities through leadership in grantmaking, collaboration, innovation, and\nstewardship as an independent and perpetual foundation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (EWN) recently received $753,700 in funding from the Golden LEAF Foundation as part of its Community-Based Grants Initiative.
