{"id":24739,"date":"2023-02-06T18:34:59","date_gmt":"2023-02-06T18:34:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=24739"},"modified":"2023-02-06T18:36:27","modified_gmt":"2023-02-06T18:36:27","slug":"vietnam-remembered-50-years-later-to-include-aircraft-displays-activities-at-eaa-airventure-oshkosh-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/wisconsin\/vietnam-remembered-50-years-later-to-include-aircraft-displays-activities-at-eaa-airventure-oshkosh-2023\/%20","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Vietnam Remembered: 50 Years Later\u2019 to Include Aircraft Displays, Activities at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The people and aircraft that participated in the Vietnam War\nwill be remembered 50 years after the end of direct hostilities during EAA\nAirVenture Oshkosh 2023, which will be held July 24-30 at Wittman Regional\nAirport in Oshkosh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 70th edition of the Experimental Aircraft Association\u2019s\nfly-in convention will include specific programs and activities that involve\nthe aircraft of that period, from all branches of service that were engaged\nduring that period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Vietnam era was a remarkable time for aviation\ninnovation and development,\u201d said Rick Larsen, EAA\u2019s vice president of\ncommunities and member programs, who coordinates AirVenture features and\nattractions. \u201cIt was a bridge from the early jet age to the aircraft that are\nstill a foundational part of our armed forces. More important, this is an\nopportunity to recognize those who served, many of whom did not receive a\ngrateful welcome when they returned from their service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aircraft involved in the individual programs will be\nannounced as their presence is finalized. However, the lineup will include\nland- and carrier-based aircraft, as well as rotorcraft that are examples of\nthose that saw service in Vietnam. Special activities will encompass the\nAirVenture air shows, evening programs, Boeing Plaza and Warbirds area\ndisplays, and areas such as the Fly-In Theater and EAA Aviation Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the annual Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight is\nscheduled to return to the schedule on Friday, July 28, focusing on Vietnam\nveterans departing Oshkosh for a day trip to the monuments in Washington, D.C.,\nprior to returning at the end of that day\u2019s air show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional highlights are currently in development and will\nbe announced in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The people and aircraft that participated in the Vietnam War will be remembered 50 years after the end of direct hostilities during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023, which will be held July 24-30 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.
